And in fact, if I remember correctly, that vampire didn't have any uber superhuman powers. He was just the bitch of a wizard.

 

Vampires can be pretty awesome, but in the HP universe and among fan fiction writers it doesn't seem to work that way. Even though, I would like to point out that this story failed because the author is a moron, and probably a retarded, emo fangirl/fanboy, not because of the fact that Harry is a Vampire in it.

The thread about making a good Vamp!Harry fic should be included in the Potter Law as an annex:

"In case you're dumb enough to write a Vamp!Harry fic, even though Potter Law forbids it..."

In the right setting I will agree that Vampires can be cool. Such settings include the Kindred (Vamp: the Masq) setting, the Forever Knight series (to a degree anyway), and of course the various incarnations of Dracula (minus one or two craptastic movie versions), and the Underworld setting (first movie only thanks).

The problem with vampires and werewolves is that unless you're in a world where they are the ONLY supernatural beings (i.e. - no wizards) then they become something of a joke. Granted, this is just my opinion, but in a world where a wizard can wave their wand once to raise a shield, and wave it a second time to ignite a vampire like a candle...said vampire wasn't very scary.

Look at the Buffy series for further proof of the worthlessness of vampires. Past the first few seasons the threat posed by vampires was a joke compared to the power shown from demons and rogue wizards.

...so combine this with the fact 99.32% of fanfiction writers further butcher the concept of vampires by making them all 1)gay, 2)pretty-boy immortal gods, and 3)stupid as shit ...well is it any wonder I auto-fail them?

 

Reading that, I had to go and have a look at this once again.

Having a mental link between two people equals fail in my books.

Heir to some God-like person equals yet another fail.

Emo! Harry is the biggest fail ever.

Crying Snape cannot not be mentioned.

Therefore, this story fails. The only thing worth reading is the Ginny bashing, looking for which is like searching for a good fic on AFF.net

 

God damn it, this is even worse than his dark lord potter fic. You know the one that features UberMalfoyfreind!Harry.

 

Wow just wow. If I could give a story a 0/5 I would do it but I'll settle for 1/5 if only for the Ginny Bashing.

Snape...cried? Are you trying to tell me that Snape, the Severus Snape from the HP series...can cry? It defies belief. A crying Snape is no more possible than a motivated, hardworking Ron who knows how to use his brain.

This fic looks like it is even more fail than I previously thought.

 

*Shrug* Snape cried in canon, cuz he lurved Lily, but that's not why this story chokes on dick.

 

Only good vampire is one with a stake through the heart and a flamethrower trained on it.

 

This story was full of so much win that I can't even begin to describe it. Amazing wrist-slashing moments that brought tears to my mascara covered eyes; UBER ANGRY CAPS LOCK moments that burned with Harry's righteous emo anger; and so much fail that I can't even begin to tell you how amused I was.

Kid, go back to the sand box and read some Dick & Jane. Maybe that will help you to acquire some decent characterization, spelling, grammar, and general thought process .. but I doubt it. Just go do it right for once and slight down the road rather than across the street so I can save the air in my anti-fail floaty.

 

I'll agree with the no points Ginny-bashing sentiment. This story fails on so many different levels that it should be promoted to the Hall of SHAME. Biatch!

I have to agree with Xiph, Vampires in Harry Potter could be great. Unfortunately, they are turned into Uber!Vamps, who are all powerful (yet for some reason not really explained hide from the wizards anyway).
