That's a great fairy tale. "Hope" always is a first story that comes to my mind when I hear about Jeconais.

I loved this story. A few people complained about how there was no real conflicts in the story because of the "soul bond" thing, but whatever. The fluffiness was the reason I liked it. I have times where I want to read about gore and blood and times where I just want Harry to not get fucked over 24/7 by fate. I happened to stumble upon this story during the time where I wanted the latter so it left a very nice impression on me. 5/5 from me.

I too was a fan of this story.

But then (cough) I'm a girl (or rather a woman, ya nancies). I can get into romance with the best of 'em.

However, I do have to be in a certain 'mood' to read this one. In other words, one of my rare 'I want mushy romance' moods. It doesn't strike all that often.

    Still, I enjoyed the tale.

I'm not a woman, or even a nancy for that matter.........

Still, this was the first story that came up with the whole Veela/Merpeople rivalry that came out. Everyone else just copied that. Relatively well written and executed, the pairing became believable and even the bond didn't irritate me too much.

The explanation for Harry's magic was also different, and the idea of a deeper thinking Harry definitely appealed.

I'm satirizing the Veela/Merpeople rivalry sometime. What are the freaking fishies gonna do when the Veela are on freaking land?

Use their high-pitched squeaky fish voices to make them spontaneously combust?

Exactly. That's good parody material right there.

It was actually used in The Slayer, The Guardian, and The Avatar of Light, which is a parody in itself (only, the author just doesn't know it yet).

    pretty good fic

I started this story in the DLP archives, I then went to Jeconais' website to finish it. This story necessitates a great liking of fluff, and I did not enjoy all the buildup in the relationship and then skipping out on all the sex. Great if you like romance, and a few interesting original ideas.

I feel that his tendency to drag out certain scenes outside the main storyline, a tendency to go overboard with the romance (to such an extent that I almost felt I had to go buy estrogen pills to appreciate it) and an unnecessary and inappropriate epilogue are some criticisms. However, when I had just finished reading it I did get that buzz I get when I finish any great story, which makes me definitely recommend this fic for anyone who can deal with romance.

Good fic, great pairing (Veelas are always hot): 4/5

PS Do not read the epilogue, the story is better without it!!

I really liked the epilogue... its one of those few epilogues I actually liked.

Well, the bit with Morgana and Merlin was kinda meh, but I loved how Harry had his body laid to rest beside Merlin. That was cool.

There's just something about Jeconais' writing that puts me off and I can't put my finger on it.

It's been a while since I read it, but I remember being irritated because I thought that the main reason why she even included other characters in the story was so that they could describe/state/think how great/powerful/slytherin/dark/tortured Harry was. The one thing I can't stand in any story is Harry's reason for life revolving around loving some woman, its too much fluff and makes Harry into too much of a pussy - regardless of how many people he kills and/or beats up.

But I do agree, the tomb scene was okay.

Good fic, extremely rare pairing and somewhat realistic.

Ahhh Jeconais. Its like cotton candy. Way too sweet, fluffy, and bad as hell for you.

Yet you always seem to finish the whole thing and come back for more next year. >> Because it is delicious.

*Squirrels this one away to be read later.*

I got in to the middle of chapter four and just can't go anymore its too.... just too it. But, that is because I dislike superHarry! and this is like the ultimate type. Also, his actions are so childish, it seems like with the war and everything, he hasn't grown up much.

Its a nice fic for what its meant to be, its just not something I am interested in.

5/5 from me. I liked the buildup on the relationships, why Harry is so powerful and the plot in general.

Me to. The epilogue was my favorite out of all the ones I read.

I can't say Romance is a genre I normally pursue. That being said if I read a romance fanfiction there is only one possible route to take, and that is Jeconais. He is without a doubt the most attuned straight male to feelings in the world. How he does it I may never know.

This story was put together well, and is a very prototypical story by him. A fairy-tale plain and simple. I felt it lacked in the end but the epilogue redeemed the last few chapters. It seemed slightly anti-climatic to me. I still nonetheless believe its one of the best of his works. 5/5

I always wished he would have done a sequel set in his mid years... Could have been amazing.

I think a sequel would have been pretty boring.

Couldn't have been action/adventure, because Harry's already by far the baddest sumbitch in town.

Couldn't have been romance again, because Harry's already done the fairy tale whirlwind with Gabrielle.

That leaves...plotless fluff? Not really interested in reading more of that; if I was, I'd visit FF.net recent updates more often.

Prequel might be more interesting, build-up to the final battle with switching POV from Harry side which will be more action to Gabrielle side which will be more of a drama. Should be interesting to see how everything Harry did effects Gabrielle in someway because of the bond.
