Okay, I agree with you on all points (or can at least live with them) except one: Ron Weasley.
Where is the "depth of his character"? Okay, he had his reasons for being jealous, wanting to be special because of his brothers and all that, but that's (IMHO) not enough character depth for one of the three main characters. And from the first through the last book, he didn't mature one bit. That's in my opinion the worst thing about him.

I'm wondering how Mr. Weasley reached Ginny. His ability to muster erections in her presence would probably been lost to him at Fred/George's entrance into the world.

    At the latest.

    Simple.

He Imperius'd someone, Polyjuiced and sold the porno memories.

Well, memories that women would use to get their husband out of the mood.

I would say...Umbridge. Yeah, she's a major bitch, but I think she was portrayed quite well as the fanatical zealot. She was well portrayed, had breaking points, evident likes and dislikes...

I loathe the bitch, but she's probably my favorite.

I wish she had have sued the Cruciatus Curse on Canon!Harry, also known as Pussy!Harry, Sissy!Harry and Lame!Harry.

It's funny, how JKR invested that much of her characterization skills in Umbridge. Kind of sad, too.

But I liked Dumbledore and Luna. Tom Riddle Jr. too, because he was given just enough scene time to be interesting, but not enough for JKR to ruin him.

Which leads nicely into my favorite character, Arthur fucking Weasley. That's right, ladies: I'm talking' about The-Man-Who-Rides-Molly's-Wobbles. It takes a real Gryffindor to procreate with that whale - no love potion or Imperius curse is strong enough to stay effective when faced with a naked Molly Prewitt.

My other favorite character is Blaise Zabini, simply 'cos that motherfucker Rowling modelled him after me: tall, black, dead secsi, Slytherin personality, etc.

@Reyhkt: regarding the boggarts, the kids didn't fear dead bodies for the same reason they didn't see thestrals: not yet truly understanding death. Just a theory though.

And a good one at that. Never saw it like that.
But what about Neville? He at least should fear something other than his grandmother.

You mean Snape. He 'neutralized' the boggart by imagining Snape in his grandmother's clothing.

I thought it would have been a figure of his mom, or dad, being held under the cruciatus curse. Not light material for children. Which begs the question of why exactly was the boggart shown in public? The kids have a right to their privacy, especially if their true fear is up on display.

As Narion said, Snape was what he feared, not his Gran. But still, that's something real - it's more a sign of how developed you are to fear something you've experienced than an imagined fear. I think Neville was afraid of what Snape represented: all of his insecurities, given a voice, in front of the rest of the wizarding world. I'll bet that if given more time, the boggart would have changed into McGonagall, or even each of his classmates, telling him what a failure he is ( think Mrs. Weasley's boggart)

    Right. My bad.
It's already 6:30 am here and I still didn't sleep.

    And I agree with Reyhkt.
Regardless of what forms the boggart took, it was pretty unprofessional of Remus to show them to the whole class.

Ron is my favourite character. Hermione is my least.

I hate Hermione so much I have real trouble reading a story with her in it. Even a story like jberns Turn me Lose where she is treated like shit I find hard to read since she still has "screen time"

Most people when they say they hate Ron point out he's a jealous git. In 7 years of friend ship it came up sweet fuck all. Mainly in GOF which he got over pretty quick and apologized which is something Hermione would never do (Narking on the firebolt anyone).

In DH he was under the influence of the Horcrux and then came right back.

Ron is a far more important character than Hermione. She's a universal bandaid, with out there Harry might of learned something since he couldnt rely on her. Ron on the other hand gave Harry and family and a true guy friend.

Look at the times the trio split up. Book three Hermione was kicked out for awhile and... Harry and Ron were perfectly happy. Infact he learned the Patronus charm... maybe they should have never made up.

In GOF and DH when it was just Harry and Hermione Harry was miserable and bored shitless.

The Harry Potter series would have been much better if Hermione had died in the fucking toilet.

Dumbledore is cool as well as young Tom Riddle. The Weaslet twins are good since they know what they are good at and excel at it. A quality many people are lacking in.

Snape is interesting but his childish atitude towards Harry and stupid love for Lilly ruin him.

I wouldn't say that Ron is my favorite character, but I definitely like him while disliking Hermione.

People's excuse that he is a disgusting, jealous, and stupid friend, don't seem to understand that most male teenagers are that way. To believe that you and a friend never had an argument that's root cause was jealousy or stupidity, is naive.

Ron gave Harry normalcy in his life, and I do believe that without Ron, Harry wouldn't be quite as sane as he is. He was there in the later books when Harry needed them, except for when he was effected by the Horcrux and threw a hissy fit.

Maybe it would have been the later books more entertaining to read if Harry was less sane, but Ron was definitely one of the best friends Harry could have had. All Hermione did was tell Harry to listen to the adults and to not think for himself.

    Bitch.

I dislike Ron mainly because he's the kind of person I dislike in real life. Loud and arrogant, but without anything to back it up with, he likes to inform everyone of his own opinions and beliefs without really knowing what he's talking about. He, like Harry, sails through life on the success of others and hinders rather than helps his few friends. He's dead weight.

Yes, that's right. Ron is the fundamentalist evangelical Christian of Harry Potter.

Everyone's arrogant to some degree, but only others can see it.

Ron is hardly useless, and I doubt the stories would be any better if he was a competent wizard who surpasses Harry in all abilities. We read a 'realistic' book about teenage wizards, not a book where all the main characters were intellectual beings which are to grow up revolutionizing the world.

Name one teenager character in the book that you did not find worthless. If you say Hermione, I will give out some lashings.

You can't ask me a question and then forbid me to give you the correct answer.

Hermione is definitely more than useless, in that she does all of the hero's thinking for him. She practical won the war for him.

Other less-than-useless teenagers include: Draco Malfoy, who managed to fool Dumbledore and get Death Eaters into Hogwarts, the Weasley Twins, who were probably the most magically creative wizards of their generation, and Cedric Diggory, who was pretty competent. There are probably others that I can't think of right now.

I always thought Crabbe and Goyle were pretty useless. Well... until they learned to summon that super-fire thing at least.

They were useless at that too, though, since they couldn't control it...

If you listened to your local fire sergeant, you'd know that no one can control demonic fire.
    No one.
