That locked room is where she puts all her forgotten plot threads. Including, but not limited to, any actual character development for Harry post-GoF. Not surprisingly, the "power he knows not" is also in there.

 

Well, that there is a locked room in the DoM we can say for sure. It was the one that destroyed Harry's 'lockpick-knife' when he tried to open it.
As to what is in there: There was no clue except Dumbledore's 'love-talk'. But does anyone know of (good) fanfics where this room was part of the plot?

 

I seem to remember reading one like that a long time ago when I first got into fanfiction, but as I remember it I thought it was good then, but nowadays I'd probably hate it. I'm ashamed to admit it but it may have been a Harry/Ginny fic back when I enjoyed that stuff.

 

I plan to use it in Sanity is Fleeting but as for whether or not it's good...I dunno. Also, I'm still fine-tuning it so whether or not it does actually feature is still hazy, it has to flow in the plot.

I reckon Rowling wrote the 5th book intending to use the room at some point but had the Deathly Hallows idea or something and dropped it. It seems stupid to me to drop a snide hint like a locked room in the DoM (speaking of which, you'd think they would all be locked no?) for no reason at all.

 

Rowling messed up.

Most likely she created that room on the spot and decided she was going to use it in the later books, and then forgot about it.

When did Rowling say that the Love Room in the DoM was filled with Amortentia? That right there is the most retarded thing that I have ever heard. When I heard about the room, I was thinking of something like was mentioned earlier with the 5th Element type Deus Ex Machine.

She's also asked if she'll name the two other Gryffindor girls in Harry's year that go unnamed - or unseen, for that. They don't exist, or they would have been mentioned in the books somewhere.

It could be the other way around. She wanted to use the room and therefore gave us a hint. Then she had the idea of the Deathly Hallows that weren't mentioned in the first six books and threw the love room idea away.
I mean, they were a well known legend in the wizarding world. If she had the idea of the DH earlier, she would/should have mentioned them in passing.

Or maybe I'm just too used to the 'Perfect Plot Planning'™ of real authors like J.M. Straczynski...

Did anyone try to face her with her many plot holes or are they all just stupid worshippers like these two?

 

After reading that interview I think the room was something we just read to much into. She also said she is planning for the next generation, thats my first time hearing that one.

 

Wait she's thinking of writing a next generation series for the books? Wow won't this woman just die. What the fuck is the book going to be about?
