I'm amazed...I really am.
How can a person butcher his own work, something he was working on for YEAR, so badly i would never understand. It all began with Naruto coming after 3 FUCKING years of personal FUCKING training with a freaking SANNIN and having only a bigger rasengan to show for it... But, like good readers we just assumed that Naruto simply didn't have his shining moment at the time and we all continued to read like nothing happened only to receive more of kishimoto failure with each chapter.

here's a short list:
1.Sai joining the 'pwned by naruto's gay speech' club.

2.Sasori getting killed by FUCKING SAKURA.

3.People getting resurrected... gaily.

4.Tsunade and the rest of her retarded village, forgetting that Sasuke is, in fact, a fucking traitor and wasting time and man-power to bring him back so that Naruto could finally come out of his orange closet.
5.Showing the other demon vessels for about 3 frames.

6.Granting Sharingan a new power and utterly moronic power EVERY FUCKING CHAPTER!!

7.The only female Akatsuki getting wtfpwned in a time frame of about 3 seconds.

8.Making Sasuke strong enough to make a guest appearence as a villian on DBZ. And thus, making it completely impossible for Naruto to ever come close to Sasuke's level without pulling some mind-numbingly retarded power-up from his multi-tailed ass.
9.Killing Orochimaru in two chapters... Then killing him again, in one chapter.

I dont' care about this shit. The only thing i really care is about the fact that ITachi is actually a good guy who wanted to kill Madara because of his plans that could change the "world" with such change it would have repercussions for goddamn how many years. Probably even permanent.

Me! The guy who stuck up for fucking Kishi. The guy who followed canon faithfully until he pulled this out of his ass. Jeez, what a fucking letdown.

FUCK!! ITACHI was suppose to be the bad guy. Not the good guy. Jeez, there goes the mysterious enigmatic crap the fangirls wanted all along.

 

Itachi aside for the moment, am I the only one seeing Kishi copping out for the final time and having Sasuke finally go down to the Shinigami Summon? With this latest retarded power up for Sasuke Im betting on epic angsty Shinigami summon in the last Sasuke/ Naruto fight?

 

First, let me get this out of the way; I like Sasuke. The Naruto-Sasuke friendship and rivalry interaction was by far my favorite part of the story before Sasuke's defection. I liked the way his character was created, and I liked that he was a prick who would give up everything for revenge. His obsession made him interesting. Some people say Sasuke was a lazy genius, I call super-BS. He was a hard worker, and that is easily seen through flash backs, and every scene that involved him training. If anything, it seemed like he worked harder than Naruto, and I totally understood him being upset by Naruto miraculous WTFPWN progress.

Kishimoto, today, ruined Sasuke. He took a great character, who, put in a foil/parallel to his main character, was incredibly likable and important, and turned him into a cheap, Gary-stu wanna-be main character.

Itachi's redemtion doesn't hurt Itachi as a character. Throughout his 'life', we saw him exactly as we remember him. He didn't make a heart felt speech, or beg for Sasuke's forgiveness. And though he was gimped in death, he still fought with uber-power and psychological mind-fucking. No, Itachi's redemption has irrevocably ruined Sasuke.

His entire meaning for existence, his purpose, the root of his character, dashed in a few seconds. If he were the main character, this might be poignant. But he's not.

All of his hard work is all for naught. He's given the power he has sought all along, but now he has no reason to have it.

But, there is a way, Kishimoto, for you to save your manga. Two, in fact. And even though you will never be forgiven for your making of Itachi into a fucking emo bitch, you can still pull off a decent ending.

A) Have Sasuke commit ritual suicide. Immediately. Not only will it give a strong message about the power of an obsession, but it would have immense effects on Naruto, your MAIN CHARACTER. Having Sasuke commit suicide would be an INCREDIBLY bold move in the world of Shonen manga. No "I'll see my parents again" bullshit though. No, Sasuke has lost his purpose for living. He has thrown everything he has ever loved away for the chance to avenge his family, and now he finds out his vengeance was meaningless. Ass an added bonus, it gives a great reason to have Naruto throw his uber-rage at Madara.

B) Have Orochimaru, in Sasuke's utter shock and horror at the revelations of his brothers purpose, take over Sasuke's now super-powered-up body. Make as if Orochimaru in a super-powered Sasuke was your goal as a main villain all along. Force Naruto to fight the face of his best friend. I don't care if you have him kill Sasuke, or if he reaches him or some such bullshit.

If neither of the above happen, I'm officially calling the Naruto manga a complete and utter failure, pending Kishimoto doesn't pull something epic out of his ass. I'll probably keep reading, but at this point, I will not care about ANY character except Naruto, and will skim until I get to his part.

Today is a sad, sad day in the history of manga.

Yeah, I've given up now. I will read it, but more because I've got nothing else to do than because I enjoy the manga.

So.... Anyone recommend a better one? Aside from Bleach, Death Note and Claymore (and Naruto obviously) I'm pretty naive on what's out there .

Only thing Kishimoto can do in my opinion is prepare another time skip. At the moment I can see no conceivable way for Naruto to become strong enough to fight Sasuke and win. Without a time skip we would be bored with a shit load of training chapters.

His best bet is to wrap up Shipuuden and skip ahead to when Naruto is a Jounin or something. Of course somethings need to be concluded before a time skip; Akatsuki, Naruto informed about his parents, maybe make Naruto a CHUUNIN FOR GOD SAKES (what else does the guy need to do to get a fucking promotion?!!!?!), etc.

Anyone else wondering what Tsunade's unique ability is? Pain mentioned that each of the Sannin have unique jutsu. Orochimaru and Jiraiya were able to virtually transform into the animal of their summoning contract. Would that mean that Tsunade could possibly become like a slug?

i couldn't help but laugh as i read the recent posts, especially at Oujou's apparent defection to realism.

you're not the only one. I liked him too and the intense brotherly rivalry between him and Naruto multiplied that feeling. Sasuke was never a lazy genius. Immoral, maybe. But just like Lee, he was a hard worker. and I love the jealousy he displayed at Naruto's explosive growth. It showed his character was developing by being force to adapt and accept the truth that he's not all that.

the descent of Naruto and the mess known as Sasuke started at the outcome of the Valley of the End Battle IMO.

now that i know he was gimped (he had to be for Sasugay to have a chance of winning), i highly respect Itachi. He was a badass, and died a badass. Seriously, creating psychological triggers in someone's mind is badass.

No, he still has Madara to kill, although it may be a secondary goal.

could a possible explanation for the uberization of Sasuke and Naruto's weakness result from Kishi's personal experiences. like, does he feel he's Naruto and that he had a friend who seemed to outshine him in everything? or does he think he's Sasuke, who thought he was doing the right thing but ended up regretting it?

 

He's probably coming from the viewpoint of Sakura. He probably pined over a cool guy and wished he could go out with him.

Even the ones who were saying that Sasuke MUST win against Itachi in this last fight have suddenly woken up and realize just how BAD this was for the manga and are literaly railing about how the current development has destroyed any chance of the story redeeming itself.
