    Title: Mistaken Identity
    Author: Silver Pard
    Rating: K+
    Genre: Humor/Parody
    DLP Category: Humor/Parody
    Pairing: None
    Status: Complete
Summary: Will the real Boy Who Lived please stand up? Snape is convinced that the second Potter twin is the one to worry about. Too bad no one else seems to agree. Oneshot.
    Link: FF.net

A good oneshot that parodies all the Twin!Harry Stories. It has a sequel, that may be posted based on reception. If enough people like this I will post the sequel. Enjoy!

This didn't do much for me. Snape's overblown inner monologues are more irritating than funny. And only one scene doesn't do the entire genre justice.

This was alright. Not exactly horrible, but I would not place this in the library. It did intrigue me enough to read the sequel, and I think that has a better shot at making it in this forum than the one shot. Lulzy at the very least, even if all this one does is make fun of cliches. 3/5.

Eh, I couldn't get through it at all. Mainly because I hate Snape, and this makes him out to be more intelligent than Dumbledore and the Potters. It would be fine if it was funny, but there just isn't any real humor at all. Snape's sarcasm and internal anger just fall flat. I haven't read any other stories by this author, but I would guess that they are a Snape fan from the tone.

As a satire of the "Potter Twin" theme it fails badly.

1/5 for at least having good grammar and spelling.

It was... mildly amusing, as with the sequel. However, the name change to 'Rosalind' was worth a small chuckle. It's glaringly obvious that he/she/it intended it to scream 'parody' while on fire and waving it's figurative underpants high above it's head. Snape annoys me though, but that's pretty normal. I sort of like how they make fun of Dumbledore, though to a point. Some other parts are just stupid.
Eh. It's an alright read if you're extremely, extremely bored. Some (rare) parts might invoke a chuckle or two. That's it. And that's only the sequel. The one shot is only alright. It made me intrigued enough to give the sequel a try.

3/5 for grammar/spelling and the occasional 'okay' moment.

    About the name change.

The author has a running gag about the redhead's name. He is known Simply as The Dunce-who-Lived or Dunce, but people will constantly change his name.

In other news, I'm wondering if I should post the sequel. Thoughts?

The sequel is actually better than this, but I do love this story. It's a successful parody of all the Twin stories. It's not as detailed or as long as I'd like, but it functions well as a prequel to A Mistaken Sorting. 4/5 for me. It's a good, funny one-shot. The running gag on names (which, by the way, are all names taken from various Twin stories, as usually, the wrongly labeled twins are pretty much interchangeable) continues into the next story and involves a pretty good prank on the Dunce-Who-Lived.

Edit: A Mistaken Sorting contains gems like this:

"Snape, it can safely be assumed, despised children. Most teachers do, but Snape had elevated it to a state well beyond normal boundaries. With his rather unique training in certain areas of magic and absolutely nil instruction in the area of teaching, Snape was to education what Voldemort was to life insurance. It had been eight years since the last official complaint against him, which said much for his campaign of intimidation."

    Yeah, I like this story.

Well, at first I hesitated to read the story since Snape is the narrator. The story was nice... and quite funny actually, though I only recognized the names Connor, Hayden and Nathan. Is it... is it a jab at Lighting! Shame on you! (No, actually I don't like 'Saving Connor')

I was surprised that I actually liked this one. It was at least a little interesting, and though I avoid as many of the twin AU's as possible, this one was a 4/5.

There are bonuses to it being from Snape's point of view, I think. For example:

"He mulled that thought over for a moment before shrugging and started searching for the answer to a question that occasionally proved vexing.

    The Dunce’s real name.

After two hours, most of them spent rummaging first through Filch’s filing cabinets and then Dumbledore’s office, Snape finally held in his hands The Answer. He unrolled the piece of parchment with mild curiosity.
His lower jaw imitated the totem of his House for a moment and completely unhinged.

Connor Nathan Jericho Michael Darius Percival Merlin Godric Potter?!

Snape stared. “And they call us Slytherins sadists,” he said at last. He picked up a quill and pulled the certificate towards him. “Hm.” He murmured.

By the time he left, whistling the most sinister version of ‘The Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ ever heard (complete with gory examples of judicious violence) the birth certificate behind him read ‘Rosalind Potter’

James Potter would probably just be incensed that a prank had been committed that most definitely outclassed any of his own unsubtle works. But he knew for a fact that Lily had always wanted a little girl and who was he to say no to Lily Evans?

The psychological damage was a bonus, naturally."

    Lots of fun here...

    Snape fails.

I didn't much like this. Not because the concept was bad, but the characterization was horrible. The author makes Dumbledore and the Potters out to be retarded buffoons.

Snape sounded like an emo sniviling snot.

The only way to redeem this is if in fact Dumbledore had confunded the Potters and was trying to get people to believe that the fake was the boy-who-lived so as to protect the real boy-who-lived.

Eh, I can like or hate Snape depending on the story. This one was amusing. I agree with the sentiment that the sequel's better, though.

There are ups and downs, though. This paragraph (from the sequel) was fail due to its clumsiness:

"'Hmm. Gryffindor Potter will henceforth be addressed to as the Dunce Who Lived–' cue sycophantic sniggering from the Slytherin half of the dungeon..."

Yes, having the oh-so-intelligent protagonist start mediocre name-calling in front of a bunch of eleven-year-olds is very clever. Absolutely.

Oh, wait, I forgot. That's canon.

The story gets 2/5 from me. 3/5 for the sequel, which was readable, and quite fun, but not overly believable.
