I'm curious, out of everyone in the Dresden-Verse canon, who is your favorite character?

For me I'd have to say it would be Marcone, I love his attitude. Followed a close second by Lash. Just finished White Night and I'm sad to see her go (more sad to see Hellfire go though, looks like Dresden's huge spell flinging days are over =/.).

Anyway, who do you like the most?

Dresden for me. He's the protagonist, so if he's not my favourite the author is doing something wrong.

I like Dresden fundamentally as a character, but his whole "saving women" attitude really pisses me off. Not because it's sexist, but just because it makes him his own worst enemy.

Marcone not so much, doesn't matter who you are, if you're bad for business..bad things happen to you.

Ugh... Marcone... I think the only person I hate more is Susan. She ticks me off so much. So does he, for that matter. Him signing the Unseelie Accords was the worst part of White Night.

But as to my favorites? Probably Dresden, Lara, Mab, Ivy, and Lash.

Lash had a lot of character to her. Dresden can be a punk some times, but he is bad ass too. Mab and Lara are just the sex. Ivy... well anyone who read Small Favors cant not like Ivy.

    murph4ever!!11!

Well Murphy being the annoying bitch that she is definitely got my favorite character vote.

As for second I'd have to choose Ebenezar because he's the only wizard thats allowed to kickass.

Once we find some more about Cowl he definitely gets my vote.

I haven't read the entirety of the series yet (not gotten a hold of White Night), but so far Dresden is winning by a long shot. He's in all of the books, and manages to escape 10 different flavors of fucked up situations in each. That being said, I have some problems with his characte. He's submissive (the sex scene with Susan in Death Masks aside); he bends the proverbial knee to others at nearly every turn. He refuses power when it's offered to him, in favor of being continually mistrusted and oppressed by the council. Still, a kickass protagonist in my book. He DID reanimate a T-Rex skeleton.

Look at the name, it should be obvious.
My favorite character has to be Dresden, I like his sarcasm, humor his courage. The only things that really annoys me about him is his attitude towards women and him turning down pussy at every corner. Why in fuck's name would you reject Molly, when she is ready to get on her knees for you?

My favorite villain in the Dresdenverese is Nicodemus. He is a greta villain, he always has plans laid out and he tries to avoid the usual cliches of villains. All those things and he fucks Deirdre. He is one bad MOTHAFUCKA or is it daughterfucker? Sorry couldn't resist..

Another character I like, which surprises me is Michael Carpenter. I'm not much for religion, but what I do like about Michael is that he has strength in his convictions. He always displays strength of character as well. His compassion for others is also a trait I like about him, even though it can be at times infuriating...

The most annoying character is a tie between Murphy with her feminist bullshit and Charity, though she has improved in the past few books..

Harry Dresden is one of the first protagonists to be my favorite character. Kind of sad really.

Lash and Ivy are also awesome.

I have not gotten very far into the story actually, but so far, I would have to say Dresden.

I'm only up to the 4th book so I haven't seen everyone yet, Dresden for me. Marcone was interesting but he just annoyed me, like one of those typical comic-book Kingpins. Murphy fucking pisses me off.

I would say Thomas just because he always has his little bro's back. And he gets tons of play without trying. Backup is going to be awesome when it finally comes out in October. Lea is a close second just because she's nuts, power hungry, and her view of protecting Harry never fails to crack me up.

I don't get it, Philly. How can you admire Michael for his convictions, but be annoyed at Dresden for his? Sounds like some desire to live vicariously through him as he nails every female in the series. Meh.

Am I the only one that actually likes Dresden for his attitude towards women in general? If he did have the attitude towards women that some here seem to think he should have, then he wouldn't be anything close to the same character. You'd have to tear away huge chunks of the plot, because if he was the type of character to use women then he wouldn't get into half as much shit as he does. His attitude about women is tied into his attitudes about everything else. Take away that and you take away a lot of the nobility and wisdom of his character.

Sorry for the mini-rant, but I just don't understand why or how people rag on Dresden for actually thinking with his brain, rather than his fuckstick.

On topic: My favorite character is Dresden, by a mile. After him I have to say I really liked the Hispanic Warden (his name still escapes me), Mab, Aurora, Shiro (Absolute bad ass), Mouse, Bob, and Lara. Not in that order.

I'm fairly sure most people understand his character and the need for this flaw, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

Hmm, well, I like most of the characters myself, and truthfully, the character I like the least is probably Dresden.

I have a thing, that, the longer I know someone, the least I like them because I focus on all the stupid things they have done, errors in judgement, etc.

Since we follow Dresden around constantly, I know all of his errors of judgement and mistakes. I still like his character, and find myself laughing with him, but that's the truth.

The obvious answer is Dresden although I do prefer the inner Harry. Lets face it this is the guy who managed to convert the temptress, ok so it may have just been just Lasciel shadow but still his will was stronger. Added on top of that is the lust for power and the darker sides of magic as well as the desire to use that power to destroy those who appose him.
As for other characters you can't go past Ivy if you have read Small Favour I only hope that we get to see her cut loose totally and maybe get some revenge on Tessa although I think the accords may prevent that. As Sanya, would say Tiny but fierce.
Sanya is another favourite, how can you manage to carry a sword of the cross, after being possessed by a Fallen Angel and still debate if God does in fact exist. Added to the fact that he compared God to an alien he's just full of lulz.
Oh and finally Kemmler Bob, almost killing Harry with a simple bit of will and according to Luccio he had the entire White Council scared of his power.

JohnThePyro pretty much said what I was about to. Besides Michael's utter belief in God, and Harry not fucking Molly are two very different things.

    Eldest Gruff. :p

No, seriously, it's Mouse, Dresden, then Marcone, in that order.
