For some reason every time I hear Iron Man I think of Harry Dresden....does that make any sense at all?

What about you? Do you have a song or songs that you think go good with the Dresden Files?

Depends on what book/scene I'm reading. The best part of Dead Beat will always have me humming Born to be Wild, and the war in Summer Knight pretty much forces me to put When Two Worlds Collide on.

I listened mostly to Three Doors Down when I was reading the books. Anything harder makes me want to jump up and do something, and anything softer makes me tired.

    3DD is good but...

    Breaking Benjamin > 3DD.

Like... someone I cant remember... said in the Music Concert thread, they're awesome. Live or on CD.

Cannot go wrong with BB. Saturate was an awesome CD, but I suggest Phobia. Over all one of the greatest Rock genre CD's released in the past 5 years.

That, or get Serj Tankian's Elect the Dead. Beethoven's Cunt. <3

Iunno why, but This is by Aslan has always reminded me of Dresden. One of the greatest live bands ever IMO.

Serj is a great musician, but a little preachy for my tastes.

"Crushing Me" by Stabbing Westward might be good Dresden mood music, depending on how deep you're getting into it, so would "Danger-Keep Away" by Slipknot, or "Stranger Things Have Happened" by the Foo Fighters.

Something from Shostakovich would work if you wanted classical. A lot of his stuff is good for tension building without getting too up-tempo.

Honking antelope is probably my favorite song to listen to while reading Dresden. For some reason I can't listen to it while reading HP ff though.

It's been a long time since I last listened to BB, I'm grabbing their CD's right now after listening to a few tracks on youtube. I have to agree though from what I've heard (again), preferable to 3DD.

I can't listen to anything distracting while I'm reading or else my focus will wander.

I prefer soft, classical/jazz/cocktail piano music when I'm reading. Nice for some backround noise without being too intrusive as to interrupt my reading.

How the fuck can you guys listen to music while you're reading?

If there's music on, I end up reading 20 pages and not remembering any of it.

It just fades into the background with me. I still hear it, but my attention is focused elsewhere so I don't really notice it. Sets the mood, because good music can make you feel things, and it just adds to the experience...

It also helps that I read on the bus a lot and it blocks out all the chavs playing crappy music on the back seat.

I can block out the music, but what's the point of playing music while reading if your going to block it out? If I have music playing and am reading at the same time, I am not 'really' listening to music, so it seems like a waste to have it playing, when I can use that extra bit of concentration for a better reading speed.

Focus. I have music on 24 hours a day because I cant stand silence. When I get into something, it just becomes a white noise. It fades off into the background mostly.

Writing, is different. I typically put a certain style of music on and with the way the beat runs, you can really get into a mood with it. High tempo, really fast play shit can be really good for moving scenes quickly, etc....

At the end of Death Masks when Harry mentioned that to Marcone I thought it was hilarious and put it on. Also, I went to see Breaking Ben and Three Days Grace in concert at PSU and they were pretty fucking amazing. They are two of my favorite bands and as they are pretty much constantly played in the weight room at my school I listen to them quite frequently.

I like to listen to trance when I read Dresden.

Generally stuff with a heavier beat.

    3DD is another good one.

Not a huge 3 Days Grace fan though.
