hi, I hope I put this in the right place... I notice there are so SO many good fics... but some of them are abandoned (haven't been updated in 2 years seems like abandonment to me...) so my suggestion is that the mods make 3 subfolders for each part of the library (Complete/Incomplete/Abandoned) That way people know which stories they should look at.

    Any thoughts?

The poster of the fic should write if it's WIP or not. Waste of time in my opinion.

Sounds like a lot of work.

There are like what? 15 active stories on here anyways.

I suppose it would be nice to have WIPs, completed fics, and abandoned ones categorized, but it would be a fair bit of work for the mods to keep all them sorted out.

Not really, you would just have to define the definition of wip and abandoned and stick to it.

It might take some time to organize everything, but I am willing to do it. I have nothing better to do. Schools out till the fall term and no summer job in the waiting in the wings.

I am pretty much shitting time right now, though there will be a couple of days when I'll need to head out to the school and help switch out a couple of computer Labs from XP to Vista.

In all honesty, I have been wanting something like this for a while now. And this something like this has been asked on more than one occasion. Every time, it has been said that it would take too much time (even I said that at one point), well I am willing to make it happen, if the mods and admins are game.

As long as suggestions are coming in; Put the reasons for bans in the sigs. It'll cut down on a lot of "Why was X banned" threads and clear up alot.

That's another good suggestion, and one easy to do.

Suggestion: leave the running of the site to those that actually run it.

    Mind-blowing hypocrisy ftw.

    Who was that aimed at?

I don't see why people can't make a suggestion that they feel would help improve the site...

Doesn't mean that the people in charge have to do anything.

It's a suggestion that has been made a few times before, and one that was rejected for the reasons already stated: it'd take too much work, and the admins don't want to expand the moderation team.

    http://forums.darklordpotter.net/showthread.php?t=5408

That's the thread ^^. Took ages to find lol, because all I could remember was that Nonjon had posted in there.. It even has the same name.

EDIT: AND, was in fact, made by the very same member. Persistent much?

Well, like I said, I am willing to do it. Wouldn't even need to give me (or whoever would have taken the project) full powers over the entire board.

I do understand not wanting to expand the moderation team, too many people having teh powerz.

Lol, I do remember that thread now. If I had scrolled down to the very bottom of this topic, I would have seen it. Very persistent...

What I would like is a section of the Libary for stories that we *know* aren't great literature - in fact, something like "straight to the Recycle Bin." I know a lot of stories that Do Not deserve to be part of the DLP Libary, but that are thought-provoking or worthy of discussion (or at least had fun long-term implications.)
Just today I read a little one-shot crossing BtVS - Ethan's Halloween spell - with HP. There were about fifteen boys who went as Harry, and nearly every Gryff girl went as a Slayer.

It is No Where Near Library quality. I just want to talk to someone about it and giggle over what it would do to the British Wizarding World.

I thought it was for, y'know, almost recommended, as opposed to "two steps up from trash."
I guess I want a thread for stories that have Only one or two virtues:
Good characters, OR nifty plot twist, or cool premise, or exciting combat, or scintillating banter OR an obscure crossover done well...

    Not "not quite good enough."
A thread to talk about the story, not rate it.

The 'Almost Recommended Fanfiction' thread is for that, too.

Well, that is one way to go, but I've got a crazy idea that is even less work. If someone starts one of those threads ban them that will really cut down on those threads.

When someone that has 100 or 200+ post count gets ban, some people will want to know what that person did to get ban, and if they have a chance of coming back.

Sometimes people can be gone for a while, come back to find that someone they knew was ban. They are of course curious as to what took place.

Well, I would say it is understandable, but now thanks to the ban war you can see exactly who was banned and who did the banning. It seems to me that you could always PM instead of creating a whole topic which will most likely be filled with pure speculation until the person who banned them stops by and leaves a comment anyway.

It isnt your business why anyone was banned. If the staff thinks you need to know, you'll be told.

When you log in after a ban, it tells you. Thus, request is moot.
