Peeve?

Hmmm. I estimate about 30% of canon. Why do you ask?

Actually I agree, It's not the protean charm. If I'm reading this right, the changes to the Master Object effect all linked objects. Changes to the slave objects have no effect on the master object.

What I'm saying is the Protean charm as been cast twice such that each object is the master object for the other.

Are you sure? Harry has never been more fanciable.

I don't think many people are consciously trying to make her into a Dumbledore replacement. A lot of writers imply she's a seer or just has some sort of spacey, intuitive wisdom. Part of that is an extrapolation of her advice to Harry, regarding the afterlife, at the end of OoTP. The fact that most fics take place in fifth and sixth year means that, more often than not, Dumbleodre is dead or will be soon. That leaves you with wise!Luna and dead!Albus, but it's just a coincidence.

Eww, agreed. Thank whatever gods you believe in that this hardly ever happens. I saw this once, ONCE, and I stopped reading the story (after screaming, "No! No, Hermione, don't put it in your mouth!"). Nasty.

"No! No, Hermione, don't put it in your mouth!"

Newsflash, neither the marauders, nor Snape, nor Riddle are Hermione's type (just like Ron). And somehow I don't see Hermione destroying the future just so she can grind on Lily, even if she were into women.

Mostly just an issue with labeling. Meh. *shrug*

Of course, usually when a character comes back from the dead in fanfic, it's done so horribly that the fic just comes off looking silly.

QFT

Newsflash, Draco would faint if he ever saw a naked woman. He's not some sex god that can rape someone until the Stockholm Syndrome (or 'true love', to rape fic writers) sets in.

Oh, and Snape isn't some kinky S&M guru with an uncanny knowledge of female erogenous zones. He's a social outcast (hated by the good guys and the death eaters) with poor hygiene who stalked a girl from his neighborhood all throughout his magical schooling, turned her over to the dark lord, then became obsessed with her son. The only time Snape ever found himself in a vagina and it didn't involve rape, was when he was born... and since his father was an abusive drunk, that could very well have involved rape too.

I think you mean 'canon compliant' (although plenty of people's attitudes could be accurately described as canon complacent).
As far as I'm concerned, Hermione's middle name is still Jane and Snape is a dirty, evil, death eater. So even canon 'facts', let alone interviews, aren't necessarily canon if they were introduced after OoTP. However, in one or two of my random writings, I have integrated gay!Dumbledore, because it added some interesting twists, if looked at a certain way.

I don't think there are 'master objects'. Didn't some of the DA members send messages to the members outside of the castle using the coins?

Or pretty much the majority of twins on the planet. Parents enjoy cutesy shit like that. I've never met twins with drastically different names IRL, so why's it such a stretch for the same to happen in canon?

Yeah...that's pretty much beyond the realm of unacceptable. I'd advise them to change their names, immediately.

o_O, of the few amount of twins I've met none have ever been named like that. It seems pretty fucked up to me...

Sadly it seems pretty common -_-

More peeves:

Character bashing --- While it can be funny after a while it gets annoying. Honestly a fic based off bashing a character is just pathetic even if its humor.

Fics that have Harry being super intelligent and or strong --- Sorry to burst your bubble but Harry's not the brightest star in the sky in canon nor is he the most magically powerful. Now he is the luckiest but in terms of magical strength he's nothing special. Though his will is strong his magic isn't so get over it.

Fics that deal with torture, child abuse/neglect and other psychological and/or physical abuse in a non-realistic manner - Honestly I think this is my biggest peeve. If you can't handle a topic realistically don't handle it at all.

I have a new peeve.

Fics that decide that all sexually liberated people are automatically stupid, unskilled, mindless sheep whose only thought in life is having sex as much as possible with as many people as possible, and that the reverse is also true.

Yeah, I think we all know what I'm talking about ;)

Oh yeah another peeve:

Fics that show characters that are virgins as pathetic wannabees who can't get laid.

Ugh...I never pictured Harry as overly attractive. Never. I've always seen him as plain and kind of dorky looking. Not as ugly as Snape but not as good looking as someone like Draco.

Eh, I always saw him as looking very similar to Tom Riddle (Tom Riddle himself says so after all) who was said to be very good looking, He is also said to look like his father, who is also said to be good looking.

The difference between them I think is the way they hold themselves: Tom Riddle with a cold and graceful aloofness, James Potter with an effortless confident arrogance and Harry with meekness and humility.

Blessed is he who is meek, for he shall inherit the earth! Or something...

Which brings me around to any inheritance fics. They're always fucking full of faggotry.

Nah their not that bad until they go overboard. Which the 13 year old writers tend to do :wall: though for the record I knew a few excellent 13 year old writers (Knew because they're older now) but still. The idiots made it hard for them to be taken seriously

Nigga what? Draco Malfoy is good looking? Am I the only fucking person alive who thinks that he's an ugly mother fucker, especially in the movies? Admittedly, Harry isn't going to be winning any beauty pageants, but he's a hell of a lot better looking than Malfoy... bitch.
