Alright, I've edited the swkotor.ini file with EnableCheats=1 directly under [Game Options] and the console doesn't come up when I press the ~ key.

Also I DLed a mod and did as it said to extract it into the override folder and its not working either.

I am on vista but I have run all the updates and stuff for the game and it all works fine.(except the sith are white instead of their normal silver and black.)

I have been working on this problem for about 5 hours now and am really tired, maybe I've missed something that someone here can point out.

I am out of ideas of how to fix this.

Fine means like it was working on my XP.

Why doesn't the console show up?

    Why doesn't the mod work?

Do the updates disable the cheat console?

How can I make the cheat console appear? I have already reinstalled the game with and without the updates and it still doesn't show.

Unless the mod was meant to reskin the Sith, Vista's fucking with shit.

    Yes.

Also, as above, unless the mod was for the Sith, Vista has your shit fucked.

In other news, Team Gizka's up to 1.0b8. I can almost taste it.

The cheat console for KOTOR is invisible. You have to type the cheats blind.

So I should delete everything and reinstall without updates.
Is there a compatability mode for Vista to run XP Programs?

Yeah, it's a fairly simple process.

    1) Uninstall Vista.
    2) Install XP.

Installing XP might not work if he has over 2.5gigs of ram. I've been told XP only supports up to 2.5gigs of ram. I also agree with Tehan, I won't install Vista for another good number of years. Fuck Vista.

    Vista is on my laptop.

I deleted everything and reinstalled the game, edited the file and it still doesn't work. I even ran it in compatibility mode for XP.

I'd be playing on my desktop comp if I had a damn keyboard for it.
I've searched the entire house twice and can't find a keyboard to save my life.

Well, I remember the console in KOTOR to be invisible. I had to use cheats blindly. Same happened with Dungeon Keeper 2. You're better off with XP. Less bullshit.

And keyboards (the good ones), probably cost less than 20 dollars or so, last I knew.

I went out and bought a 20 dollar keyboard and hooked it up to my shitty xp and it worked when I started a new game then when I was leaving the endar spire after the video plays it freezes and the screen stays black with no sound.

Now I have to make it work on vista.

I copied the working swkotor.ini file from my XP over to my vista and even that doesn't show the cheat console.

The >_ symbol should be in the upper left corner but its nonexistant.

Ive had that problem. You've got a mod interfering with your scene files. Or possibly so.

Try it again and hit esc, I think it is. If you can get into inventory and maps and that, then thats what it is.

What type of cheats are you trying to run?

Would the save editor be a better option for you?

Also, what mods are you running with it?

    *edit*
Now I've got the urge to reinstall the game...

I have given up on KOTOR 1 for a later day. I am now fixated on KOTOR 2.

I have installed it and right as it cuts away from the opening visual text in space part it crashes and says that the program has suffered an error or something.

Have you tried running in XP SP2 comp. mode? You probably already have...

If I remember right, that error has something to do with the sound or something. Something about Kotor 2 needing access to something that Vista will not give it?

Some people have recommend downloading this and placing it in the Kotor 2 directory...

    Ah here we go...
    Your millage will vary...

I got the information from this topic on the Team Gizka forums...

Have you by chance downloaded SP1 yet?
