Carrying around a swiss army knife, now there's some utility for you. But I guess that's just not cool enough. And harder to get open in three seconds.

I've never met a Swiss army knife that I could open without prying the blade with a coin; they're a pain in the ass. Three or four of the attachments they occasionally have are useful, but, overall, it isn't worth the trouble, nor is it worth the massive bulk of the major ones rattling around in your pocket.

For a Swiss army knife with scissors, pliers, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, and a bottle opener (the only useful attachments they have) you have to be willing to carry a knife the size of Alaska and drop an obscene amount of money to get it.

Also, most Swiss army knives have a rounded tip rather than a point, which makes it more difficult to cut any sort of material in a sheet, and more difficult to open dry powdered clay and plaster bags. It also makes opening shipping boxes marginally more annoying, although either works in that case.

Anyone that thinks carrying a knife around in self defense is stupid is plainly just a fucking moron.

Please, tell me some negatives of a regular person not involved in illegal activity carrying a knife around?

I agree with you, but for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate:

    1. If regular people have easy access to knives for their protection, then the violent people will also have easy access. Admittedly, if knives were banned violent people would still manage to get their hands on them, but there would be fewer.

    2. A person who is carrying a knife, even if they don't intend to use it for instigating fights, will be more likely to pull it on people during fights, even when it is not necessary.

For the same reason I would advocate not carrying a gun or a bazooka around in self defense. When idiots have weapons on them, no matter what their intentions, it increases the probability of them lethaly injuring themselves or others. It's much easier to kill someone with a knife than without one.

And sometimes, people like Rob Knox, who did nothing to nobody, get killed.

    Were you either?

    No.

I believe the only solid testimony we have as to what happened was presented in the OP's article and it clearly states that he was not at fault.

In the streets of London where a large percentage of the population think that books are just fancy skins for rolleys, being part of a Harry Potter movie is worthy stabbing cause.

Marcus Belbey. You looked like a cunt and nobody will ever remember your real name in your memory I give thee a sad smiley. :(

Uh...You can't ban knives. They are a necessity.

I was talking about someone who doesn't go about starting fights so assuming he's the one getting harassed by all means pull a knife on them.

Hmm... Feel bad for the family he might leave behind.

It doesn't matter if it is a gun, a knife, a rock, a piece of paper, or even a pube. If someone wants to kill someone bad enough, they will find a way.

    That's not a knife...

    *That's* a knife

    ...

What? You can't tell me, no one else was thinking that?

The kind of swiss army knife that Anubis buys.
