I always thought naruto was gonna end up being powered up with a jutsu. I thought it was gonna be a mind seal like the one sasori used but from the third or jiraiya...but itachi works too.

 

Apparently Itachi even foresaw the possiblity of Sasgay getting bent around Maddy's little finger and going after the village.

I have to wonder if Itachi didn't pull and orochimaru stunt with Naruto.

And seeing as how depressed Naruto seems, does anyone think his been told Jayaira (sp?) has been killed?

Think Kishi's gonna throw in another Orochimaru thing, where Itachi lives because of the stuff (Chakra?) he put into Naruto?

 

Naw, Naruto with the Sharingan would be terrible. That would just enforce the thought that you need the Sharingan to be powerful in the manga. I'd rather Naruto be super hardcore powerful without using some Kekkei Genkai or relying on Kyuubi.

 

It would be refreshing if someone important died without showing off every single crap in his arsenal and going (almost) out of chakra, without seeing that one final "THAT" jutsu. Can't they just die the ninja way? Stabby stabb stabb in the back unexpectedly? I mean progression wise it's always the same.

Why can't Sasuke die by a slit throat in his sleep or something?

 

World doesn't work like that. Their ninja, so they need to stand out in their organization so they don't get used as grunts or be pushed into a mission with no return. And this is true for the world, you need to stand out or you get fucked over. The uchiha's got fucked over because they stood out too much. So Naruto needs something to stand out that doesn't involve the kyuubi. I looking forward to him getting mokuton.

 

Does every damn thing have to be linked to at least one person in the past? First we have the parallels between Naruto and Minato, then Team 7 and the Sannin, then Team 7 and Minato's team... Then we have the Valley of the End battle, which was basically a weakened rehash of the Hashirama/Madara fight, though the roles were kinda reversed.

Still Mokuton!Naruto would be nifty as hell. How this could be tied in at all is a mystery to me though, what with Minato having no prior links to the Senju beyond Jiraiya being team mates with one. Plus Tenzou has already filled that role, and I don't see Kishimoto reusing things like that... He does that enough with the Rasen/Sharingan.

What I'm saying is that I would rather he didn't have a crutch like a Kekkei Genkai. I want him to be like Sandaime, who was considered the God of Shinobi that didn't have a bloodline or some out of control jutsu that made him 100x God. Almost every single extremely Kage powerful character in the series hasn't had a bloodline or some demon to make them more powerful. Sandaime, Yondaime, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Nidaime, Kakashi's dad, Kisame, Sasori...that's all I can think of for now. I want Naruto to be added to that group.

History builds on it's self. The children are expected to build on top off their family achivement's to create their own place and all that.Tenzou/Yamato can't use mokuton to its fullest. He even said so himself. Beside sakura asking to learn it and Tenzou/Yamato going so far as to say he's the only one who can use it...sounds like a set-up to me, to be honest. I really home sasuke attacking konoha isn't the last arc. That would suck...I wanna see more blood among other things.

EDIT: If sasuke does move against konoha...naruto will kill him, worst come worst. Kishi seems to be trying to make naruto like haku, itachi and jiraiya, able to kill his own heart to protect what he holds dear.

Chapter actually wasn't that bad. In fact the ending has me excited for next weeks chapter. The closing caption as the bottom says things like What will Konoha do when word of the attack comes and it says United Front. So, maybe Naruto is finally going to open his fucking eyes and realize that Sasuke is an asshole and needs to be crushed.

Oh, and Itachi saying Sasuke is still pure is absolute bullshit. Sasuke took power from the devil, of sorts, to get his revenge. He attempted to kill his best friend and now plans to kill an entire village. I don't know about you guys, but that doesn't exactly seem pure to me.

@Indo: I don't think Sasuke attacking Konoha is the last arc. Remember we still have what ever trouble Kabuto is going to bring. We still have to kill off Pain and Konan, as well as the other living members of Akatsuki. The situation with Danzou still needs to be resolved, unless Sasuke kills him. We still know nothing of Naruto's mom and very little of his dad. We also have the Kakashi and Sakura arcs that are going to take up the rest of 2008. Naruto still has to learn that jutsu that Jiraiya and his frog totem were talking about. So yeah, lots of stuff to still cover.

 

I don't think he meant pure as in good; he meant it more like young, impressionable... stupid basically.

 

what type of power do you guys think Itachi gave Naruto? Maybe the power helps Naruto control the Nine Tails chakra, and allows him to use it efficiently (no going berserker all the damn time) or maybe Itachi implanted certain jutsu and ninja skills and knowledge that Naruto greatly lacks.

Better yet, maybe Itachi inserted a piece of his personality into Naruto's mental psyche. Not enough to conflict with Naruto's dominant personality, but enough to influence specific behaviors like an overwhelming desire to learn everything useful, train, and fight. I mean, the Sharingan is practically the End All, Be All to hypnotism, so it is possible. Somehow, this reminds me of a fic I read where Harry makes Moody Imperio him to become much more dedicated to learning and killing Voldemort...

so what do you guys think?

 

I think this manga badly needs to end.

 

I think the obvious thing to give Naruto would be the ability of genjutsu. Remember that Naruto is god awful at using, detecting and dispelling genjutsu. If Naruto were to fight Sasuke now all Sasuke would need to do it use one genjutsu and BAM end of fight. So, I think Itachi gave Naruto the power to fight against genjutsu.
