Dark Naruto is good, because the shinobi world is supposed to be dark. But that fic sucked. To me, it is exactly the same as creature!Harry fics. I can't get into it, but whatever.

 

I thought all of the 'let me eat the demon brothers because they attacked me thing' was incredibly retarded and completely unrealistic. Foxes don't do that naturally, so why the hell would Naruto? It was just a way for Naruto to seem bad ass and different from others because the author couldn't get his characterizations correct.

 

Wait what? I don't know what you are talking about. Are you talking about the Demon Brothers from the wave arc? None of that arc appeared in the story, Naruto met them after they were returning from that mission.

Second, it doesn't matter what a fox does or does not do what is important is what a demon does.

Third, Naruto eats people because they are food and the best tasting food at that, doesn't matter if they attack him or not.

Honestly, either you are thinking about a completely different fic or this one has gone through a huge overwrite since you last read it.

 

Ummm... he's a demon. The fact that the Kyuubi was a fox matters very little, because he's a demon. To demons, in this story, people are food. Therefore, they eat them.

 

I remember this fic... I don't think the fic posted is it.

And yes, that fic fucking blew. I haven't read this one yet but the premise is totally different then the fic you're talking about.

EDIT: Eh... The fic is ok. I'm at chapter 10, and it's moving pretty slowly. However, the action is pretty good and the writing doesn't suck. My issue is: How the fuck could something like this end? With Naruto killing everyone? I have the feeling the author doesn't plan on having Naruto become accepted by society. Naruto's penchant for eating humans, while contributing to the darkness of the fic, removes the possiblity of change ofr his character.

Humans are food. He can't have a real relasionship with a human anymore than a man can be friends with a chicken. He can be fond of them, as one is of a pet, but he can't really get close to them.

As a dark fic, it's great, but I just don't see this going anywhere great plotwise. Plus, it disturbs me just a tad too much. Demons are bad guys. Human raised as a demon is gonna be a bad guy. No offense, but I don't actually like it when the main character I'm supposed to identify with is actually evil.

The demons are not like the Marat from Jim Butcher's Codex Alera. They eat people for food because they're tasty. They're basically the stereotypical cannon-fodder for the likes of demon slayers in any of that kind of manga. I can't identify with them at all. They are creatures that, straight up, deserve to die. That is my biggest problem with this fic. Even though the author attempts to show the human-like interactions between them, they're just not human-enough for me to actually care about. I just didn't feel bad for Naruto when they all died, because they deserved to.

Of course, I could be totally wrong.

Damn, guess I was talking about the wrong story. I'll go read this one, then, and see if it was any better.

I remember it as an enjoyable read but this was years ago. From what I remember of the ending it tied of the most of the plots that were major in that story but left several larger, undefined plots hanging (like Akatsuki).

EDIT: On fics from long ago I give you Fei-sama's completed Where The Loyalties Lie and it's on Hiatus sequel Return of the Scorpion. White, by the same author, I remember as being good but it had a bad/rushed ending.
