That was sarcasm right? Specula, as he was named when I read his work, is a whiny bitch (just like I'm doing now) who berated his reviewers when they didn't praise the shit out of his work. He would dedicate 4 thousand word author notes to bitch and moan and literally list the names of the reviewers who didn't have something good to say about his fic or asked him a simple question. Not only that, but he would get canon all wrong. He would do something like make Mokuton or Hyoton usable by anybody. I reviewed him and told him that isn't how it works. He wrote back in a hissy fit claiming that it's canon.

As for his stories...they're meh. 32 year old Kurenai getting the hots for 12 year old Naruto. Basically your usual California teacher/student relationship. Nothing special about the fics in general. But compared to the Naruto fandom they are good.

 

God I hated those fics... guy couldn't write a romance if he ripped it word for word from a chick flick.

 

I liked his Ruby and Sapphire story. It was what kick started my tastes for Naru/Kurenai pairing

 

Is any one still reading the manga? I have been doing my best to keep following it, but it has turned into such utter bullshit. Is it true in the latest update he is still following sasukgay? And giving him extra powers for his shar/making him want to kill all of his home village from one guy telling them they are all evil?

I'd advise staying away from Specula. His stuff is readable, but it's simply out there. He likes to hear himself... write, I guess. Naruto takes to talking about waffle irons, explaining how elevators and deep friers work, among other things... plus, he can't write romance any better than the rest of ffnet.

There's almost no description, too. If I recall correctly. It's rambling narration and dialogue.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but I've had it on my favorite's for a while. It's pretty good, with a fairly regular update schedule.

This has really been turning out nicely, basically its a what if Jiarya hadn't slacked off training Naruto. Looks like it has a bi-monthly update and has 10+ reviews per chapter, which is twice my minimum requirement for reading something.

 

You read based on review numbers? Reviews are a good indicator but +2500 words per chapter, overall, is my standard.


EDIT: zero0000 has cancelled Cold Blue Metal and, using current plot lines from canon, is rewriting it as Cold Blue Edge. The writing is above average the plot has a lot of potential and it looks to be adding some political intrigue as well.

 

My friends have always had a bit more to say about my shorter works than the longer ones (not that you would know from my pittiful ff.net account).

The is something to be said for favoring simple elegance instead of overwhelming the reader.
