Ah, to be honest and as much as some of your theories are well-thought out, it was nothing like that. I put the last bit in because, frankly, it sounded cool and I wanted to keep Verrine alive. A lot of people read deeper into the story than I can actually write. But I suppose it is a problem, although I still want Verrine alive for the next story, where Harry will have quite a bit of interaction with the Order of Blackened Denarius. (Denarian Lord anybody?) It saves me the trouble of writing up a compltely new Fallen and Host.

For the record, Sammerial was killed. Harry's bloodfire disintegrated most of his head and his body burned in the sinkhole of DOOM. As for Harry not finding his coin, that was intentional. I planned on doing a scene in the next one where Auror Y or Ministry Worker X goes completely insane with repurcussions that Harry won't like.

I think I'll probably put in something about the Death Curse as to why Harry didn't deal the finishing blow, something about him not wanting to risk such an attack and so forth. Thanks a heaps for your thought everybody, and keep it up if you find a plot-hole problem with this idea.

I thought Harry sparing the Denarian was just one of those moments where the main character does something to just look cool. Harry's done it before, and I thought originally there would be some sort of eventual debt repayment or something, hopefully in the sequel. My original thought was (when reading the scene) "Wow, that was freaking bad ass of Harry. And with the sword's luck it'll wind up doing him some good too!".

Insert obligatory omg that rawcked, you win etc.

edit: Has there even been a redeemed Denarian? I've never gotten around to read the desden series itself, so i'm a bit clueless as to everything Dresden.

@Shezza: Do you have how Meciel is going to reap her revenge plotted out? A reason Harry left the coins could be they would interupt the Masterplan. And for how long have the Coins given superior healing abilities?

Only the host died right? Sammerial is still alive and unharmed inside the coin. And the thing is I would expect Meciel(And Harry) to be far more concerned with the coin than the physical "receptacle" with Fallen like this.

The problem I atleast have with this is that Harry did not even look for the coin. If you put a scene there explaining that Harry searched for the coin but did not find it (and did not have time for a more indepth search) then that would be different. The coins can move under their own power atleast a little (I think?) so it could be that the coin simply rolled away from Harry while he was chatting with the other denarian. And they are resistant to magic so Harry probably cannot just "Accio" it either.

However the way it is now, Harry does not even bother to take a quick look around to see if the coin lying around somewhere ready for the taking. The possibility of this is not even acknowledged. This is what makes Harry look so foolish here, that he leaves the coin behind because it does not even seem to occur to him(or Meciel) to search for it. Almost as if he is too foolish to grasp the concept that defeating the host means nothing if the Fallen inside gets away to find another host to inhabit.

Hmm. But Harry has not been shown to be all that worried about Death Curses before? Neither have any of the other Denarians in Dresden books like say Nicodemus. It just seems a bit abrubt and off to me for Harry to suddenly get scared of it. Especially since he did not worry about the death curse of the other denarian at all (Or Vespers curse earlier in the story). Have the curses ever been mentioned before even?

Though I dont really have any better suggestions really. The only thing that occurs to me is that maybe Voldemort could have made portkeys for the denarians to escape with in situations like this? They are still allied are they not? That would allow Verrine to escape without making Harry look out-of-character. I have trouble seeing Harry(and Meciel) simply leaving her alive and unharmed like this (curse or no curse) but I could definitely see Harry taking enough time to brag and taunt Verrine for her to magically flee. Dunno what others think.

Like I said, magical transport FTW

I agree this seems the most plausible, if you don't want to have to go through the whole ordeal of creating another host character for the coin.

As to the other coin... I thought you were leaning that way, with the ministry finally getting a hint to look into Denarians because of the missing coin... but honestly I thought Hermione might have picked it up while on her way out.

I figured you were leaning that way, with her overall knowledge of the wizarding world and its history, plus the coins access to certain powers including true wizard magic, plus a time-turner or two....

A fairly uber hermione who already hated Harry for a while now. Only now, is more in his league...

Ahh well, looking forward to the next bit.

Sanya, one of the knights of the cross, was a Denarian who rejected his coin.

    I'm thinking....

Book 5 has the twist that Sirius dies and that it's revealed that there is a prophecy linking Harry and Voldemort. Obviously things will be different in this fic as Harry is a grade-A bad-ass Denarian.

But will the twist possibly be that Harry is outed as a Denarian to the magical community at large? The battle between Harry and the Dark Lord reveals Harry's true colors and the next installment of this saga, 'Denarian Lord' begins with Harry having to break out of Azkaban, an outcast from the British magical community, having to rise to leadership of the Order of Blackened Denarius to survive and destroy Voldemort?

    Just a thought...

A very, very sexy thought. That story would rock! I'm sure Shezza will blow our minds again, with something more amazing.

Yeah I can imagine seeing the big, bad, and powerful Aurors locking up Harry in Azkaban.

I liked the latest offering. I found it very funny how all these scary evil Death Eaters were wetting their pants at the very thought of coming face to face with Harry Potter. Rather large difference from canon, and one that I really like! :D

Nice to see Moody in action too. I hope Harry will get to kill some death eaters too though. I would also love to read about the orders reaction on Harrys fighting skills. How did the order learn of the trap anyway? I must have missed the explanation for that. Did someone call them?

But would Meciel be willing to be on the same side with those she so hates. I suppose if she enslaves and dominates them completely. Though why Harry would choose to work with Denarians instead of Dumbledore and his order is a question. Also would the other denarians ever agree to follow someone wielding one of the swords.

I wonder how exactly Harry would be outed though? I mean he could always deny it and if Voldemort is revelead like in canon then Dumbledore will probably be back to power and able to protect him. And after all the lies spread about him by the newspapers, these new "rumors" could seem very boy-who-cried-wolfish. Though thats assuming that Fudge will actually witness Voldemorts return the way he did in canon.

    Ohwell, food for thought anyway.

It would be funny if Fudge will come in the middle of the Voldemort/Dumbledore fight, trying to kill them with his bowler hat.

That made me laugh. Umbridge most likely already told Fudge about the "secret." So I definitely wouldn't put it past him to try the little stunt.

Good 1st part, nice build up to the Harry's arrival. And I hope we can see Bella and Harry duel for a bit. Can't wait to see if you have Dumbledore and Voldermort duel at all.

Didn't the dead Denarian sink into a pool of molten rock - so the coin is probably pretty inaccessible to any wizard wandering by, as well as to Harry.

Imagine Bellatrix picking up a coin...
she is insane enough without a fallen Angel in her head, but with one?
Poor Fallen, would probably have to erase her mind just to make a comfortable "life" possible :)

But it is worth a thought or two

Damn, this is getting intense. I can’t help but wonder if we might see Harry enter the main battle like this “You started the party without me. Crucio!”

Amanda opened her eyes and focused them on Hermione’s anxious face. “We’re going."
A streak of electric-blue light zapped forward
    “…We can’t stay here,”
    biting her lip worriedly
    in her peculiar singsong voice
Amanda focused on the Death Eaters, her wand clutched tightly in her hands.
a dais in the center of the room
group of figures standing near the center of the room
at a fast, frantic pace that the schoolchildren could only feel envious of

The italicized text might flow a bit better if it was replaced with: envy.

My spell checker gave me some issues with a few other things, like using grey instead of gray, but I figured it was more preference than anything else, so I didn't make a note of it.
