I liked X the best because of the gameplay and the fact that even now the cutscenes in that game look like next-gen level of graphics but VII had the best story out of any in the series so far and so even though it was 2D and still text based it was just so damn fun I didn't care.

On XII the story really does revolve around Ashe. Balthier is in his own words the leading man. To me Vaan and Penelo have the least importance of anyone in the game. Even Fran has more importance to the story line.
I didnt even use Penelo or Fran but I like Fran's character.

My first FF game was FFVI, and I will always be in favor of it. It had an incredible storyline, an insanely competent villian, and halfway through you fucking fail to 'save the world', which leads to a great many battles and conflicts within this desolate wasteland that used to be the world.

My second favorite would have to be FFIX. It reintroduced a lot of older FF concepts back into the series, the most obvious of which being the 'black mage'.

 

Final Fantasy Tatics Advanced 2.
The game may be a bit slower than every other game out there, but it is amazing.

 

Since Tactics was the only good one, it's pretty damn obvious where my vote's going.

(And yes, that's including the Tactics Advanced games. They suck ass. Period.)

 

I think FF VII is the best, but X is close second, but the great story and characters in VII are definitely first place.

Havent played the rest. I played X-2 for 10 minutes. Worst game ever.

 

12 sucked. HARD. I was bored out of my damned mind, and the party of grown adults being led around by a fucking retarded what, 13 yr old kid was just too much. Man in the iron mask rip off ftl.

1 was awesome, it, + the free Dragon Warrior game that came with my 2 year subscription to Nintendo Power is what got me from casually playing Mario/Duck Hunt, to a hardcore gamer.

9 was too cartoony. 8 was okay, I didn't mind the drawing, but it just didn't feel like FF. 7 I think ppl go batshit over, but the graphics other then the summons and battles were horrible, the story was akward and didn't make sense until a few playthroughs, and feels like it ended abrubtly. I did however spend like 200 hours playing it at least though.

I tried to play X, but after playing PC games so long, and then running through 12, X was painful to my eyes to play, lol.

 

I fell in love with FF8 as soon as i got Scroll's sword, Lionheart.

FF IX. Vivi and Zidane tie for being the easiest characters in a video game to sympathize with.

 

Vivi is kickass. Hes like 3 foot 6 and he kicks ass.

I've only played 7, 8, 10, and 12 so I'm not exactly the best judge here. 8 was the first I played, and I liked it. By far my favorite so far. 7 was okay... I can see why people liked it, but after the Junction system in 8, the Materia system in 7 just felt awkward. I'm playing 7 again right now though, and I like it a lot more then the first time I played it.

10 was... meh. I liked it at first, but couldn't ever really get excited about playing it later.

12 sucked. I got like twenty minutes in then quit.

 

XII reeked of dead inspiration, desperation, and greed.

XI was a mmorpg which made it instafail.

X - 2 was epic fail the moment I saw Yuna's new character design.

X was meh, I think Auron's aura of bad assness pulled it up from fail.

IX was awesome I loved the characters, story, and feeling the game gave.

VIII was....ok I guess it just felt like it was lacking something, Rinoa was hot though.

VII it my favorite, and I really can't say anything that hasn't already been said.

FFT was kinda cool, and the story was very good, but I didn't get into it as much as I thought I would, Calculator Mage was FREAKING AWESOME though.

VI was okay, but I couldn't get interested.

Vivi - He owns.
Zidane - He's just funny, plus he's a thief, which always amuses me .
Red XIII - Best character in FFVII, and his limit breaks were awesome too.
Vincent - A vampire that turns into a demon as his limit break... What more could you want?
Auron - He kicks ass, that's all you need to say.

Honourable mention is Beatrix from FFIX - Her storyline made me lol a good bit, and she starts off with shock & climhazzard. Shame you only get to use her a couple of times.

 

IX is my favorite.

FFI will always hold a special place in my heart as my first rpg.
