I just hope that Hagrid's actions don't count as yet another disqualification for Harry. Man that one rule pissed me off. In a good, I care about the story, kind of way. But pissed me off on Harry's behalf.

One thing that just occured to me; Fleur isn't completely human, but according to Deathly Hallows polyjuice potion does work on her. That pokes at least a minor hole in the idea that polyjuice is only fo 100% humans.

Will be nice to see an update, if for no other reason than to finally find out what happens.

Nice dementor scene, Jim. And, most importantly, KWAN cameo! Hell yeah, I love that motherfucker! One of the greatest OC's of the fandom, without a doubt.

And Harry/Fleur's interaction at the end? Pure Bond-ish playboy charm.

 

The ending was beyond priceless...

The only thing I didn't like about this chapter, is that I didn't find out just who manipulated Hagrid.

 

Weren't you reading? The assassins bewitched Hagrid to be a distraction so they could take a shot at Athena Manos's grandfather.

As far as this chapter goes, it wasn't what I was expecting, but I really liked it. Things finally feel like they are picking up steam. I like Triwizard Tournament fics, and I love this fic, but it felt like it was slow going. 10+ chapters and we're not even halfway through the Tournament. I have a feeling that this chapter is the tipping point to bigger and better things with this fic.

I was a bit perplexed by this. Why reinvent boggarts instead of leaving them canon? The dementors I would have a similar issue with, but we've discussed this at length in the thread, and while I maintain canon dementors wouldn't have attempted it, it was pulled off very nicely.

Also, bits of nice humour as always, and the last scene with Fleur is pure win.

Something that kinda grates on my nerves a bit though is HJ's tendancy to go on paragraph long monolouges explaining something.

 

He didn't reinvent Boggarts. It was Harry's opinion that they had no real effect. He doesn't think the visual appearance of a Bogart is that devastating. Bogarts that become dementors can not project the same aura as a dementor. It states that fact in POA.

 

Excellent chapter. Great ending. Your metafiction insert of Kwan and Collins was a very nice touch.

 

I don't know if it's true or not so I'll go on hearsay and rumor.

You're not the King of Fanfiction, Kwan is a shitty character and I will steal your book, copy it and torrent it for free.

One thing I really don't get about this chapter is why Harry wasn't able to conjure a Patronus when there were only 6 dementors compared to the hundreds he was faced with the previous year. Yes I realize that they are closer this time but I still think that he should be able to use it.
