@Mara: I'll concede that we know jackall about Wright's personality, but we do know about her acting and her looks. Granted, her roles so far have been minimal, and nothing to really give her any space to show off her acting chops, but she hasn't added anything to the role. Also, if she had the talent, the writers would've bent over backwards to create more screentime for her, given that she's going to be the main love interest for the rest of the movies. After all, they pulled a love scene for Dumbledore from nothing, before learning that he was gay.

As far as her looks, the fact that you came in the thread to defend her made me take a moment to try and objectively look at her, because you're not the only one who thinks she's gorgeous - not by a long shot, if the fansites are anything to go by. The only tolerable photo I found of her made her look plain, at best:


The books say plainly that she's one of the prettiest girls in the school, and not-so-plainly hints that she bears a resemblance to Harry's mom.

Tinn got me started on this, but now I'm fascinated, in a morbid way... I'm trying to locate exactly what it is about Wright that makes her so ugly.

So far I've got:

Fringe
Chin/jaw (jaw is too round, chin is too weak)
Cheeks (no definition)
Her long, extremely straightened hair doesn't suit her
Mouth/lips (too small, not shapely)
Manly figure (no breasts, hips or arse, overly wide shoulders)
Dress sense (she can't dress to her figure at all)
The chin, jaw and cheeks also combine to make a face lack definition overall.

In her favour, three of those are reversible (ignoring plastic surgery). The others aren't though. Though there are exercises you can do which strengthen the muscles in the cheek, which gives them greater definition. So four are reversible.
