I've never understood why people think Luna's crazy simply because she says outlandish things and is relatively unconcerned about her own image.

To me, far and away her most attractive quality is that compared to basically everyone else in canon (and the vast majority of females in the world) she is ridiculously low maintenance. And she's fun.

Attractive or not is debatable. Dressing like a "loon" fits because to her it's fun. I just get irritated when people turn Luna into a typical teenage girl, needing reassurances that she's pretty, or that she has real friends who will stand by her. Getting teary-eyed or touched because their helping her get her stolen crap back is not good Luna characterization. Being courteous and appreciating the help is fine. But don't turn her into every other whore in clown makeup and dress robes.

Not giving a shit about what people think about you to me is far more logical and rational behavior than dressing like everyone else and getting caught up on fashion and gossip.

Needing nothing and being so much fun put Luna above every other female in canon in my eyes. Of course an awful lot of the katana wielding, spiky-haired, sharply dressed characterizations of Harry aren't good enough for her and need a high maintenance mary-sued reflection of the author to awkwardly bind in the razor wire chains of true love.

    A-fucking-men.

The other thing that makes me go for the little red 'x' in a Harry/Luna 'fic is when it turns out that Luna isn't really strange, she just acts that way because <x>, where <x> is some poorly-contrived excuse for the author to subtly slip in a Canon!OC.

That usually causes me to drop out of a 'fic with any other pairing, as well. I wish people would stop doing it.

There's two H/Molly fics in a thread Zev started in the Romance section. Only one I've read aside from "Keeping it in the Family"

No, i'm sure that she's not really that ugly, but she's not what I pictured of Narcissa, I pictured a proper high-class lady who was attractive, and most of all a milf.

I think we've pretty much established that after that much time spent in Azkaban, it is highly unlikely that she is very attractive now, even if she was back then.

Let's take an alternative viewpoint. What if there was a way Bellatrix did not get thrown in prison? Say, she escaped from the Aurors, or found a ally that could help her do so? That way, she can stay a babe, and the psychopathic Dark Witch we all know and love.

    Moving on...

Harry/Fleur. I know you're all groaning in your heads, but yes, she is indeed a canon-proven babe. Now, the reason for finding interest in Harry is the biggest part. Say she's Dark. She could manipulate Harry with her charm, then he might throw it off and turn the tables.

Or, during the Tournament, she deducts that as the Headmaster's favorite, sticking close to him might be a smart choice, since he's probably going to be getting the best info to help him. Or, if you want to portray her as the dumb bimbo (Which I very strongly discourage), he's Harry Potter, right? If he defeated Voldemort, then he can probably find a way through the paths, which she can mimic.

There are plenty of reasons the pairing sounds good. One, she's a link to the French part of the Magical World, which leaves you with a bitchload of area to explore. Two, she's mostly a blank slate, other than the fact that she's snooty and good at charms and smoking hot. Three, she's one of the interesting female characters that gets stolen by the Weasley's, which means you'll be taking her right out from under them.

And Four, Ginny hates her. That's a nice, tantilizing reason in my books.

If you're able to get it to work, without some retarded shortcuts like 'veela mates, destiny, ooh!', then it's definitely a good pairing to explore, especially since it's fairly unexplored, and hence, leaves plenty of room to move into to.

Harry/Gabby : Most of the reasons above, plus, is younger if you don't think Harry can snag a hot older woman. Even more of a blank slate than Fleur.

I, personally, lean towards Harry/Fleur, because Harry can catch any bird he wants in my book.

Read the thread under For Review.

And I now have the urge to write a short involving Harry taking a pet Cougar.

The biggest problem I have with Narcissa is simply put. Lucius Malfoy's used goods. Ugh.

I couldn't realistically believe in this pairing, unless there was some type of time travel involved etc, and, if there was a time travel harry/narcissa pairing, I would probably avoid it anyway.

I wrote this in about 15 minutes...so there's no editing beyond spellcheck.

    ____________________________________________________________

Harry was about to pull his shirt over his head when he paused. That damn cat was staring at him again. Hagrid had found it camping in the remains of his hut a few days after Harry had defeated Voldemort. For some odd reason, Hagrid reasoned that the best gift he could give Harry for killing his arch-nemesis was the newest critter he found.

He wasn't quite sure what it was rather than a large golden cat. Hermione insisted that it was a mountain lion, but she didn't get a chance to verify that since the cat upon seeing her promptly chased her off. The fact that the cat ensured his privacy from unwanted visitors made it well worth the price of maintaining it. He actually wasn't quite sure what gender it was.

Shaking his head, he finished taking his shirt off before his hands went to his waist to strip off his shorts. The cat was…drooling, it's tongue hanging limply to the side of its mouth. That was the last straw. Cats simply did not act aroused when he decided to change clothing.

With a flick of his wrist his wand dropped out of its holster and he pointed it at the cat. "Alright kitty, I know you're not a cat. Who are you? Some crazy fan that wanted to meet the Boy-Who-Lived? You should know now that all I do is work out and mope around the house. Reveal yourself!"

It didn't surprise him to see the cat shift into a human. The human it shifted into however, caused him to lose all cognitive function.

"Well spot on, you caught me. I am a fan after all," Narcissa drawled with a smirk on her face.

"Mrs. Malfoy?" Harry asked rhetorically. "How…what…why would you trick me with your Animagus form? And since when are you an Animagus?"

It was very disconcerting to see her tongue lick around her lips just as she did as a cat.

"The how is very simple. Who do you think taught Sirius the basics when he started to poke around our family library looking on how to become an Animagus?"

"You I suppose," Harry answered dryly. "That still doesn't answer the why you decided to live with me at Grimmauld Place. This place isn't exactly up to the standards of your estates. Speaking of, aren't your husband and son missing you?"

Narcissa scowled, briefly exposing the wrinkles of her early-forties face that were normally concealed. "That waste of a family of mine lived only to your mercy, for which I am forever thankful for. However, Lucius…has failed in certain husbandly duties for quite some time now, forcing me to seek other avenues. So, I'm living up to the nature of my Animagus form in two ways by pursuing one as young and vital as you."

She was going to pursue him? He could hardly compute that thought. How was he to respond? He briefly thought of Ginny but remembered her whining that he didn't deserve her since he left her behind. Screw that bitch.

"Wait, I’m still not quite sure as to what you meant by one as 'young and vital as me', but that's only one way. What is your form other than a large cat, and what's the other way?"

"I'm a cougar Mr. Potter," Narcissa said while she unclasped her robe. "Like any other feline, I screech and yowl when I get wet."

Actors and actresses do act in other movies, you know.

And since Narcissa hasn't actually appeared yet...

Lies. It's about the makeup and surgery. And botox.

My personal fav is Harry/Cho, especially when authors ignore at leas some of the shit JKR pulled on her in GoF and OoTP. I also like Daphne, Lily, Gabby, Fleur, Pansy and Susan, Luna only when I'm in the right mood.

If only fanfiction authors were better at characterisation.
