WTF? Why is this thread alive again? I thought I said the discussion was dead, and that I'm killing the idea.

I believe RedNehi meant that Muggles couldn't see the 'spell' itself (the green light of Avada Kedavra, the red of Stupefy, etc), not that they couldn't see someone fall over dead, or someone being stunned, or levitated, or whatever.

    No he does not.

Er... is it actually ever clarified if Dudley saw the Patronus? I don't remember it being clarified on whether he could see it or not.

If you say so MLK, I participate in battle re-enactment from the medieval and dark age periods, so I've had lots of chances to experience fighting with and against all sorts of weapons.

And just like that, on one dreary August morning, all of the DLP bore witness to nerd less cool than a fanfiction writer.

As a compromise between the sword and the knife,
I have never seen a machete wielding Harry in my life.
A Harry that hacks a'piece the limbs of his ev'ry fiend,
Would have a worthy place among those in darkness weaned.

LOL. Being a participant to reenact something that actually has happened, something that takes physical input, is nerdier than writing about some shit that could never happen (i.e. magic)? I wasn't aware it worked like that.

However, it never does any good to try and defend yourself on the internet Mordecai, especially to someone like Darius; no one's gonna believe you. Besides, common sense dictates that a knife is easier to handle than anything heavier than said knife - you don't have to have much experience wielding weaponry to know that.

I'd also like to point out that mock combat, even if you're using lightweight homemade weapons (duck tape, cardboard, pvc, and foam padding? Hella) is ridiculously good exercise. It may look goofy, but I wouldn't call it nerdy.

    >> Dressing up to participate in mock court intrigue, maybe.

Anyway... anyone giving Harry a sword is fail. 20th century people, if you want to arm the BWL have him transfigure a baseball bat or something. Swing, crunch.

    Amtgard?

I participated in that for a few years but I don't go anymore. Also... this discussion should die already.

You know, the traditional way to help a thread die is to not post in it.
