    Suprising, I know.

    Anyway, I cannot get firefox to open. I'll click on it, the computer will give me the hourglass for half a second, and nothing will happen. This started to happen after I had to turn the computer off because everything froze. Again.

    I've tried restarting it several times, but that doesn't help either.

    Anyway, I'm not a very tech-savvy person, so don't berate me for missing the obvious problem, if it's obvious.

    Start Menu -> Programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) ?

    Alright, at least that'll open, but what can I do to get the default working again?

    I'm pretty sure it's not the add-ons or anything, since it's been working fine with those before this happened.

    Corrupted data/settings? Look here, maybe do the profile trick.

    Hm, I found and downloaded Firefox 3, and it works now.

    So thanks, but luckily I don't have to go through making a new profile. :)

    I'm betting it was a dodgy plug-in, since Safe Mode worked (that disables them all) and Firefox 3 worked. (most plug-ins don't work with it)

    Plugins that don't work in FF3 are automatically disabled, and you get an error message. (Unless, of course, you are 1337 and know how to work around that.)

    If the problem is that you have the wrong version of Firefox for the Add-on then you can;

    1. Open the *.xpi file in 7-zip
    2. Open the install.rdf file in a text editor
    3. Alter the minVersion and maxVersion tags found in the file to contain the current version of firefox that you are running

    There's a plugin that'll let you ignore stuff like this, heh. I forget the name, and I can't be assed to look though my bajilions of plugins for it. It's in the Developer category I think though.

    Or, you could do what Sublime said. But that's too much work for a shitty plugin. If it wasn't made for FF3, it'll more than likely not work.
