Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it by searching through the thread. Alright, I know from the title and the summary this fic sounds bad, but I assure you it's not slash and it is actually really good.

 

The beginning of that story is very "WTF?" Only way I can describe it.

I didn't like the first two chapters, but liked the second two. I suppose the author was just setting up the backstory... Hope it's continued, and that Naruto gets a little bit more normal.

Anyway thanks for the rec, I haven't read something as weird as that in a while.

 

The manga sucks hard too at this point. I'm willing to bet the only intelligent (read: not wapanese 12 year old) left reading it just want to see how it'll end.

Each arc was worse than the last. The best part of the entire series was the very first fight with Zabuza. Naruto and Sasuke used team work, clever strategy, and no DBZ-syndrome power ups. Almost every fight after that was the same old shit.

Bad guy is losing, but is acting arrogant. Activates some power up. Bad guys starts raping. Hero uses power up, rapes bad guy. Bad guy gives an "oh noes! Why I has to use dis!?! u not be dat strong???" speech and uses his ULTIMATE MOVE, which the hero takes, comes back from (always to the villains COMPLETE SURPRISE) and pwns the villain.

No strategy. No cleverness. Pure DBZ syndrome.

However, the characters are fun, and rthe world is wide open to interpretation, more so than almost any other fandom (including Harry potter). The things that appeal to me about Naruto's fanfic possibilities are the same reasons I got into Inuyasha fanficiton in the first place: it's damn easy to say "fuck the story line and some of the pussy world set up" becuase the world itself lends to a more serious approach.

Does this get better after the first or second chapter? I mean, the writing style is fine, but it's just pissing me off.

Naruto isn't Naruto even by the first chapter; all of his normal characteristics are kicked out before you even see him at the opening exam. There's little character development to be had, and that's what makes good writing.

Secondly, the writing is hard to read. I had to re-read this part like, four times.

Naruto is dressed like a faggot right from the get-go. A long, ash-coloured cloak the color of blood on one side [???], with a katana and the aforementioned weights made out of chakra sealed kunai. WTF is this? It's like a complete OC as the main character!


P.S. What's with the damned parentheses?

 

It has been a while since I read it but if I remember correctly it does get better.

I skipped past most of that. I almost never read rewrites of the Kyuubi battle.

 

Same. Unless it has a really good intro paragraph, I'm skipping anything about that battle.

 

Arg, stupid computer messed up again, and erased a bunch of my progress... But yeah, I'll get it finished.

Just a note for all future posters, can we please return to the original posting format? I realize that I am the one that started the current way of posting stories, but I've found that it's a whole lot easier to update the list when it's posted in the original format.

I've read that one... didn't like it very much.

 

It was good for a while but got gay when Naruto randomly left to go training with zabuza.

 

Kidnapped, actually, but yeah, it started getting less fun to read around then.
