Great story, I really liked the way your Harry doesn't behave like a kid after he comes into James' memories. I'm looking forward to the next task.

 

I found the fact that Harry made a huge golem for the task annoying. I know you wanted the hat to get a tommy gu... I mean a golem. But enchanting a huge golem to only act as a shield when the there must be other easier ways to take cover from a potion exploding is kind of far starched. Wanted to see the more of the golems destructive force in action!

Would also love to see more of hat's verbal assaults. Ones that mock other people instead of having it yell "I am gonna bust your nuts with mah super strength" all the time. I mean having hat as "harmless" character that would bitch a lot was great. Hope u will have hat without his golem at some scenes atleast!

 

Or HJ made the golem to show off. Along with the fact that he did not have to pay for the materials for the golem since they were paying for the materials for any item made for the test.

 

Also, who's to say that he made the Golem strictly for the task? For all we know, HJ has longer term plans where having a several ton sidekick would come in handy, and the task itself was a very nice coverup for any future adventure. And if someone else was picking up the tab... bonus.

Also, the golem could well have been the best choice for the task at hand - especially as the difference between winning and losing could be measured in seconds. If Harry had had to stop and cast a shield, or raise an earth wall or what have you - precious time lost. Not to mention, while he obviously had a well thought out plan, if some unforseen onstacle appears (as had happened in pretty much every task up to date) then he would have a very versatile ally.

 

Damn...I forgot about that little tidbit...the Ministry/schools are footing the bill. Nothing like government funding to make me want to overspend and get the most out of it I can...

In other notes, this is obviously a build-up to the next chapter. Since Baba Yaga's horsemen seem to be building towards untimely deaths within the next few chapters, it kind of makes me wonder how that will impact negotiations.
