Found this in a C2 e-mail, and the whole "Sasuke dies" thing made me rather interested. It has a good update rate with nice sized chapters. I enjoy the characterization, Naruto actually seems to stay somewhat true to canon while changing into a better ninja. The only stretch here seems to be Sakura, but I can accept it.


Edit: Yeah, there's some iffy stuff in here. Still decent, I guess.


I hope this hasn't been posted before. I don't know where the Master List of already recommended fics are, but I did search the thread for the Author's name and "Divergence." Hopefully that was enough.

 

Err.. I saw this story on Fanfiction.net a couple of days ago, but couldn't bear to look past the first two chapters. The team's reactions are one dimensional and cliched. Also, it seems to set up the story for super-powered Naruto. Plus, the writing style just rubs me the wrong way. Unless it gets drastically better I doubt I'd read this story. Each to their own I guess.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see Nugar updated on FF.net, still epic though. Anyone get what the whoel SHANNARO!!! thing was?

 

He's probably talking about the newest one. I found it pretty funny, though I wasn't a fan of what happened with Sakura. It's supposed to be an exclusive club, what the Kyuubi does with others, but it seems he's bringing in more and more people for no reason.

I know he used it to show that Naruto is not always in control of his actions, but other than that it just seemed pointless.

Otherwise it was brilliant. I laughed a fuck load at some of the lines, especially Hinata's comment about Sasuke . Fucking awesome XD.

 

The Shannaro thing is Sakura's verbal quirk, a lot of Kishimoto's characters have them and something gets lost in translation to English. This is how it was explained to me.

i.e. Naruto: Dattebayo (which is slang/nonsense for an expression of confidence in one what is saying that can be added almost as an afterthought at the end of a sentence) turns into "Believe it!"

Sakura: Shannaro (A shout or exclaimation, kinda like marines shouting Ho-ah at their officer.) turns into the "YEAH!" of Inner Sakura. Fist upraised in triumph kinda thing.

 

Actually in Nugar's fic inner Sakura that shouts SHANNARO all the time only came into being because of the Kyubi's chakra, the events all took place in the latest chapter.
There was no inner Sakura before that.

 

No shit, really? I never would have guessed that despite the fact that he said it specifically in her profile in the third interlude.

I was talking about the origin of the the quirk specifically and why most english speakers are unfamiliar with it, do try to keep up.

 

Figured I'd give some more info since it could get confusing for those with no knowledge about Nugar's Sakura, no need to feel slighted man.

Nugar-verse the dropped out Genin that played with cough*raped*cough Naruto was originally talking to Sakura but Naruto (looking for a friend) delayed him long enough for her mother to find her. Thus the event that would have created Inner-Sakura results in Naruto's trip to Ibiki.

 

That's probably why Naruto went out of his way to bring Sakura into the loop, even if it was an unconscious (or Kyuubi induced) decision.

This is not my story yet I would encourage you to read it. It is not our regular "Naruto joins Akatsuki and fall in love with Itachi". No weights and uber bloodlines.

What this story has is great dialogues and good and alive characters. No stupid bashing yet and this fic looks rather promising. Danzou is great. Konan is superb. And Pain is even better.

 

I second this. Especially when Pain berates Konan by saying we don't know how to train a Jinchuuriki. That swhat really drew me in.
