I've always been a big fan of what I've dubbed the Indiana Jones school of hand-to-hand combat. In other words, you say, "to hell with this," pull out a gun, and shoot the other guy/girl/creature/entity that wants you to fight it hand-to-hand.

Yeah, most of these animals, if they were really hunting you wouldn't give you the time to climb up a tree. Or pile driver them, or grab their tusk and shove it up their rectum. In fact, elephant tusks are stronger then you or I, and you grabbing it would be far from the smartest thing to do.

 

If you memorize the anatomy of the animal you're going to hand-to-hand, you can beat them by jabbing your fingers into one of their pressure points. If you're really skilled, you can hit two at the same time and kill them. :awesome

 

I read things like this a lot and I do it myself but it just struck me as funny now.

I can assure you that J. K. Rowling did not ponder how her magical radio might work, and "they" don't use anything because "they" don't exist. We're all nutcases that are way to immersed in a fantasy world that we have probably put more thought into than its creator.

But then... as long as you haven't tried to Accio things in real life and don't feel the need to try and Reparo a broken glass... you should be fine.

Yeah, the chances of Rowling having thought about it so in-depth are slim to none.

Doesn't really matter if you've memorized them, if any predator is hunting you it'll probably be attacking you, which isn't going to give you a second to recall some information you studied several weeks ago. And if you knew you were going to fight against X animal, why not bring a guy/knife/spear?

As for my earlier comment, I am sure it is possible to KO a goldfish. I mean if you are fighting on land you have all the advantage. Hell you just have to outlast it. Given enough time the lack of Oxygen would knock it out, thus you win by default and the Goldfish has been KO'ed

However I couldn't outlast a goldfish, being the nerd I am, I would be KO'ed by the fishes first Flail.

Oh and Chengar Qordath, while the Indian Jones school is my favorite, being gunless most of the time I favor the Rincewind style of combat.

Please tell me someone got that reference, I have had a bad week with book and movie references.

 

I got it . Personally, I think the Rincewind style is one of the best ways to fight wild creatures. There is a better chance of survival with the Rincewind style than hoping to hit a pressure point on a grizzly bear...
