I figured shit like this would happen after the Activision merger. After all, Activision has stated in the past that they want to be just as well off as EA.

Its blizzard. They bend you over and sodomise you without lube, but you still enjoy playing their games during it.
Diablo three in five instalments will probably be the next announcement.

 

Even though this is nothing but blatant greed on their part, I might be able to stand it if the campaigns are good enough for a full game, but Im getting this funny feeling that they just took the full game and diced it up instead of putting effort into the making them good stand alones.

 

Every game has expansions... this is no different. While Bliz may be out there to make money, I suspect that each of the campaigns will be long enough to be worth it. The only problem I see is that SC2 may or may not be coming out within a year.

ah crap....this is troublesome. While i understand that they are taking advantage of it, it is still annoying because i gotta buy this shit for more then it's worth. And i would still buy it. And they know.

They can't help it. But damn, i think they won't though. I highly doubt it. Possibly....

 

They have to account for pirating and they additionally know they'll get away with it - because the hardcore SCers have been waiting for it for nearly a decade now.

And really - it's the pirating. When you have a sizable portion of your community pirating the game, who aren't concerned with not being able to play MP, you have to get dirty. It's no surprise when everyone laughs about pirating and the people you're appealing to engage in what is essentially stealing.

Don't complain when companies fight back. You have a simple choice. Don't play it, don't buy it and send a clear message you don't give a fuck. I've just added Bioware to the list after they were absorbed by EA.

Chances are, 10,000,000 people will disagree with this method of fighting back on the first day it's available.

 

The only benefit I could see to them charging for online play is that it would finally fix the hacker problem. I assume they'd have to if they were charging for it anyway.

 

The pirating defense ploy doesn't work though, all it does is piss off folks, who pirate it more then they normally would, and the cycle starts all over again. I for example think this is fucked, and will personally aquire it for myself, make several copies for all my friends, then delete my copy. I would of never bothered with it before, but now I will to make a point. Figure that's what, 10 copies I'll probably hand out, at whatever fucking stupid price point they sell it at, 50-70$?

And while we're talking about price, what.the.FUCK. is with the next gen console game prices?!?! EVERY game that comes out worth a fuck sits at the 60$ price tag here, and tends to only have 15 hours of playtime, max. Screw that.
