It seems to me (after reading the plot summaries) that Meyer took every aspect of vampires thought up by inane fangirls on their shitty fanfics, like not drinking human blood, not being hurt by sunlight or stakes etc, introduced some of her own (sparkly skin) and packaged them into one horrifying mass known to us as 'Twilight'.

I already snorted hard a few times just by reading said plot summaries. I don't think I want to imagine what reading the book would be like.

I havent read the books but I liked the movie

I liked the take on the Vampires that she made.
She didnt have the religious stuff that usually hurt Vamps (Cross, Holy Water, Garlic). I dont really understand were the shiny skin comes from.

The movie was riddled with either plot holes or just poor characterization.
Why is a 100+ year old vampire in high school? That's the most basic one that bugs the shit out of me. At first I was willing to give the author the benefit of the doubt and maybe he was just going back for first time in a while because there's new technology and stuff; however she fucked that up when she did the scene with all the graduating caps. The question remains, doesn't he have anything better to do with his time?

Next is the fact that he's a stalker, I have yet to meet a girl in real life who wouldn't be freaking the fuck out if she woke up to have some guy that she barely knew in her room (or outside of it I'm told in the books). Realistic romance right?

Oh and there's the fact that she moves to a new school and everybody is head over heels for here despite the fact that she really isn't that good looking, and she's no charmer. Real life doesn't work that way.

I'll skip to the end because the middle bored me so badly. She goes to rescue her mother and meets the creepy vampire alone... she deserves to die for being that idiotic. Honestly how can somebody be that dumb. The fact that you thought the movie was good will really lose any respect you could possibly have on these forums since we tend to value well written books and movies.

The younger they appear/act, such as going to school, the longer they can stay in that town.
They dont sleep and its a very small town, so having something to do 6 hours a day seems worth it.

Okay i do admit that it is creepy with the watching her sleep and the stalking.
I can only sum that up to love/infatuation.
But didnt Edward say that everything about him(Vampire charm) was designed to draw her to him. It might have taken some of the creepy out of it for her.

    That is called love.
She loved her mother enough to give up her life.

    Words Fail me....

Having watched this not once but twice, I feel I've gotten a good feel for this movie. I've given it more than a fair chance. I went so far as to try and read the book even before watching.

Based on all this I think I can safely declare this movie Camel semen!

The stalking alone would have done it for me. I mean, he follows her, looks for her when he doesn't know where she is, HE SNEAKS INTO HER ROOM TO WATCH HER SLEEP!

Then we have the Pricess of town status. I mean she is this towns Mary Sue. She is the exchange student from the big city. Her Father is a well respected police chief, Her other father is a baseball player.
Everyone, knows who she is as if they read a report on her before she came.

Every guy around madly wanted to insert a penis into any of her pale skinned orifices. ( I'm fairly certain Drunk santa man wanted to as well )

All the girls wanted to bask in her superb glowing glowiness, when they werent wishing to be her.

Every piece of dialog out of edwards mouth was nauseatingly half assed. Both in performance and quality. And don't get me started on the fx.

Sparkle sparkle, run run! Cant catch me, I twinkle like a crystalin sugar plum

As for highschool, I mean theres homeschooling. Its not like they couldn't do that if they wanted to stay secluded.

All I'm going to say is that Robert Pattinson is a hell of a lot cooler than I thought he'd be and he definitely wins for saying he thought the books weren't a story at all but a bad sexual fantasy of Stephanie Meyer.

    Protip - he's a virgin.

Protip II: Son of Protip - both of them stay virgins until they're married.

Protip III: Return of Protip Jr - the entire series is Mormon propaganda.

Then why go to a small town? You could easily live on outskirts of a city and never have anybody know that you don't go to school and it would be easy to get away when it's sunny.

It's not love, it's idiocy. Any person with half a brain would realize it was a trap and a competent villain would kill the mother anyway just to be sure there weren't loose ends. Walking in there alone just means you die as well.

Question. Is there any part of Edward that could be used to label him as a vampire? Any of the traditional quirks that set them apart from the rest of the mythological creatures? Or is he a vampire in name only, where Meyer has just came up with some half-arsed abilities and a couple of defining features and stuck the name 'vampire' on it to make it more appealing?

Could you call it one of the Fae and not have to change anything?

    Wow
She knew she would die. She was exchanging her life for her mothers. So it cant be a trap if you know.
As for killing the mother anyway, he would have killed her if she told anyone.
And i doubt she stopped to think about him killing her mom anyway.

What would be the point of living if you are always hiding.
The small town was north and very crappy weather.

    Do Fae drink blood?

Its a new version of a old story. Forbidden Love.
I do admit that the Wolfman falling in love with a baby is fangirl-ish, but thats in the books. I like the Movie.

It is a trap since he would/should have killed her mom anyway and her going there served no purpose. Her not stopping to think about him killing her mom anyway is the idiocy. A scene like that is one of the most overused scenes in the history of books and movies probably and yet 90% of the time they go on and act like idiots anyway.

I wasn't saying that they had to hide all the time, just when it was sunny so people wouldn't go wtf shiny? Besides going to high school 8 billions times sounds like a good way of living?

The whole movie is fangirlish. She takes away most of the things that make vampires unique (aka their weaknesses) and turns them into things that fangirls squeal over. I have always pictured Vampires as being very sophisticated and yet this movie made them look like immature brats with a few exceptions. I mean the main vampire has mood swings left and right yet he's been alive 100+ years. Shouldn't he have learned to control that by now?

And Aekiel the only thing that makes them really vampires is the supposed need to drink animal blood at least, however it's never shown and only mentioned in passing.

I thought edward was 80years give or take.
And the oldest of the bunch was the father and he seemed sophisticated. He cant be noble style sophisticated in a hick town. Thy had to adapt to the changing times.

As for the weaknesses, like i said all religious. If judism was the main religion when he vampire stories started it would be the star of david that hurts them. It never made any sense to me.
But they should have some weakness, just not the religious stuff.

He was turned in 1918 I believe and was 17 years old when he was turned. Yes the father was sophisticated, however being alive 100+ years should give you time to become sophisticated or at the very least time to learn not to be a moody brat.

I agree that it's ok that they took the religious weakness out, however they now have virtually no weakness except being torn apart and burned. I'd commend her for being original if she had just taken out the religious weaknesses, however she also made light not a weakness which screws that up.
