It doesnt show he is a moody brat untill after he meets Bella. It scares him that he cant read her(hear her thoughts). And then he has to protect her, plus she want to be a vampire by choice which he doesnt understand.

The shiny skin bugs me too. I think she should have kept that.

Oh god, this fic (I refuse to call it a novel) is everything that can go wrong in fanfiction.

Any author who wants to create a good novel or fanfiction must only look at Twilight and say, nay! I shalt not do anything that book does.

Anyone who wants to make a shitton of money however it appears only has to write the most disgusting drivel to have thousands of adoring fans hanging off of every fail-encrusted word.

In most modern vampire stories I've read, it's not religion so much as a symbol of faith that hurts vampires.

As for going to highschool in order to blend in -- is Cullen new in the town, just like Bella? Because if he isn't, you know what'd attract attention? A kid that doesn't get old and stays years on end in highschool.

Therefore, he could only live in the same town for a year, two or three at the most.

On an unrelated note -- the heroine is named Bella Swan? Really?

    Most fangirls wouldn't dare.

An Amazon review I read stated that he and his family moved from town to town after staying for the duration you mentioned, so at least that plothole was taken care of.

Blend in? I grew up in a small town... and new kids didn't blend in for at least a year, if they were lucky. Hm... Ok, I know Joey and Kimmie, I grew up with them, went to school with them and might have gone skinny dipping in the creek with one or both of them. I watched them become a couple, held her hand while she cried over some male thing he did, listened and tried not to be sick as she was far too explicit about what they did(After all, he's like a brother to me.). Now, here comes this out of town stranger, and he's drooling over her? Does anyone think we're going to accept that bimbo?

That entire thing with her being beloved by everyone is horse manure. If a good looking new girl moved into town and upset the established relationships of all the teens in town, adoration would not be the response of the girls.

I cannot believe that this is one of the best works of this decade. What happened to taste?

I had to take my sister to go see this over Thanksgiving Break, and she's a hardcore Twilight fan. Luckily she hated it, and we laughed the entire time. It was just so awkward and awful that you had to laugh. I think the people in the theatre hated us as we laughed during the fight scene, but I don't give a damn.

One of the best films of all time according to my foster sister. But then again, she thinks winter is caused by global warming and there's a country called Canadia. 9_9

As a Canadian, I don't think I can comment on this.

I am here as a bearer of bad news. Earlier in this thread, the topic of cross-overs was mentioned between that god-awful horse manure that is the Twilight series and Harry Potter. Well, suffice to say, I went on fanfiction.net and searched for the basic 'Harry Potter/Twilight crossover'.

    I got 63 results.

    63.

Two are even over 50,000 words.

As loyal members of DLP, our mission is clear: we have sixty-three targets that need to be incinerated by righteous wrath. We must drive those 'vampires' back to the depths of Meyer's twisted and diseased mind and away from the good Potterverse.

Two chicks were talking about the movie in my class the otherday. Talking about which scene they liked the best, and then they talked about the guy that sparkled...

I thought the horror wouldn't reach me, but... it has. I had to resist the urge to violently pound myself in the forehead with my laptop.

You know, I always thought that Twilight was just an inside joke from the author and publisher that went wrong as soon as they saw how popular it was.

It wouldn't explain all the fans but it would explain how it got published, in my mind at least.

But, really, aren't there any standards to publishing?

You don't have to be very intelligent to see that this stuff is so anyi-feminist it actually makes one cringe.

Lol, I think there are some standards to publishing - I just think they are rather selective. Any halfway-intelligent publisher could have taken a look at this heinous series and realized that it is the equivalent of crack cocaine for the teenage fangirl.

Whereas my original fic, with a decent storyline, believable characters, immersive world, and meaningful conflict, gets rejected twice. OH THE SHAME, THE SHAME! :)

    That's quite well made.

    But it still sucks.

I lol'd. Is it sad that this guy did a way better 'sparkle' effect with 5 minutes and WMM then the entire Twilight production team could pull off?

It doesn't show him before he meets Bella either.
