I laughed hysterically upon reading Osama Bin Laden. Bounced up and down a little, literally. I found it on a Favorites List of someone and tried to read it recently, but aside from disliking reading about real-life personages, the story seemed to be predominantly dialogue.

What a goddamn non-sequitur, Osama Bin Laden. That's just killer to no fucking extent.

To be fair, I would get some laughs if someone wrote a story where a muggle terrorist blew up Voldemort.

Perhaps it could be a short story?

    Very short.

But would the IRA be willing to do a favor for a nice, clean-cut kind of boy like Harry? They tend to be a little more hardcore.

I was thinking something along the lines of collateral damage, but whatever works.

This is one of the three readable X-men crossovers, alongside The World that Waits, and that one story.

    Why almost recommended?

It was abandoned before it reached 10,000 words.

I have a question, I found an interesting Snape fic (100,000K), no don't shoot, hear me out first. This fic was good. Which says lot considering I want the cockroach dead just as much as the next guy.

Basically in this one, Mulciber used the Blasting curse on Lily not her friend McDonald like in Canon.

As a result Severus waits for Mucliber to be alone in a dark hallway, comes out of nowhere and Reducto's his arms off. Now Snape is a dead man becuase his House has turned on him, oh and to add icing on the cake, Lily still goes after James.

What I like about the fic is that Severus gets angry alot, but Snape is a lonely creep, and thats what is great about the story. Its honesty, he doesn't try to make Snape look suave and handsome, he is downright ugly.

The fic really shows how odd and strange he is. He is not Lucius-I-am-a-pimp Malfoy, he is Severus Tobials Snape, your local stalker.

Let me know if I should even post it.

I've read that fic and i know the guy who wrote it from another forum. i'd give it a 3.5/5 at the least for being superior to all Slytherin-Centric Fics.

It's not popular here in DLP-ville, but I have a soft spot for Harry/Snape mentor, adoption, and Severituses. Which means that occasionally, I'll try a new one, and even more occasionally, I'll find a bit of it that I love the writing, or it makes me laugh...

That's from Harry's New Home by kibinnz just in case... What can I say? It made me laugh...

@Bratling: That was an amusing scene. I think I'll check out the story.

I think he is advocating abortion. Harry is pleased with himself for impregnating everyone and anticipates the rise of the Potter family.

Only, nine months later, no babies. He asks them what happened, and they cheerfully tell him they aborted them.

    Then he commits suicide.

    Lawl.

This is a real harem story. Not the ones you can find everywhere about a bunch of kids having a go with Harry and Harry with them, but an official harem like the old Sultans from Turkey ages ago with concubines, alpha wife, favorite wives.

The same guy. I can appreciate it being a parody, but how does one write 370,000 words of it?

Oh. That. I tried that, a long time ago. IIRC, it's one of those stories that set a standard for me.

... a standard for when you know the concept of Harry/Many has failed, completely (even beyond the usual, I mean): It's when you have that many woman around, that you (as the reader) can't keep track of them any more.

    Hahaha.

As someone who rather likes Snape stories (hell, my favourite ship is Lily/Snape, and that's practically unheard of - although my second is Harry/Tonks), I've read 'Wrath of the Half-Blood Prince', and it is good. Even though Harry doesn't even show up in this fic, it's well-written, action-packed, and rather entertaining at points.

So, as confirmation, should any Marauders-era fics that are fairly decent be posted in this thread? After all, they would be recommended - except that they aren't Harry-centric (unless they're the time-travel ones, and those just get ugly fast - haven't seen a single good one of those).

Just curious to find out before I do something stupid (like recommend my own Marauders-era fic in the 'For Review' forum...).

What the hell are you doing here, then?

Timely Errors by Worfe is pretty good.

No balls no glory. If you think you're story is good enough for the library - post it in for review. If you don't think it's good enough post it here and rethink your reasons for writing if even you don't think it's any good.

As I said in my intro, I'm here because I saw this a sounding board for fresh ideas and honest, critical opinions, not mindless reviews. I'm not gonna deny that my favourite ship is Lily/Snape (closely followed by Harry/Tonks), but I won't read Severitus or any of that garbage. I like the ship as it was supposed to be - and that means that it falls apart. In my fic ('Rewriting the Song' on FFN and somewhat AU), Severus tries to fix it in a logical fashion instead of becoming the bitter and cowardly bastard that he was in canon. He's not good by any stretch of the mind, but he is coolly logical in what he's looking for.

Yeah, that's understandable, but I also think it's logical to know more about preferences on the site. A few posts I've seen suggest that most people here don't like Marauders-era fics (don't entirely blame them, as most are total shit). Being informed and not posting a good story is better than posting something that might be good in my opinion and inviting flames just because it is of a genre that is not preferred here. I'd prefer to just be informed before just pissing people off by recommending something they don't care for.

And I do have balls - I've got a Harry/Tonks fic in 'For Review' right now. But being brave doesn't mean being stupid.

Thanks for the recommendation, though - I'll check it out after my linear algebra exam.
