Well Pein did point out that it was because Itachi knew how to get around the thing. As did Orochimaru it seems in the Sand-Sound invasion. What I'm wondering about is why Pein never used all these god-mode abilities against Jiraiya and yet believed that Jiraiya could have won had he "known the truth about Pein".

 

Problem with that is you take away the conflict and without the conflict the story is boring. Pain making a huge entrance and fucking everyone up is the conflict we need to hold us over until Naruto finishes his training.

Yeah, realistically, it would have been much easier to just sneak in and find him. That's how we would do it, but manga doesn't follow logical thought. In manga (especially shonen), when the situation calls for subtle and discreet actions you are given loud and flashy actions.

That would be true...if the person you were looking for wasn't one of the most important figure (for infamous and famous reasons) in the village. Don't you think that sending a Recon Body would

• A) set off the barrier? (keep in mind that the only ones that have invaded Konoha WITHOUT DETECTION have been Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Itachi and the people they brought along...the Sound ninjas, Kisame, you get the point? We'll come back to it later.)
• B) Be noticed by various ninja around since it will stick out?

Because the truth about Pain is probably something so amazingly flawed that simply knowing it would promise victory.

 

I'm guessing that there are two secrets/truth about Pain.

1. The real one isn't there fighting. He's controlling from them somewhere while hiding. That's the truth Jiraiya uncovered, I'm guessing...
2. The secret about his abilities is that he can switch abilities and techniques to and through different bodies (ex. Jiraiya already killed Animal Pain, and yet there's a new one...) by using the chakra pins all over his body.

And we aren't sure whether Pain used all his abilities on Jiraiya. Remember that Jiraiya fought the 6 Pains but it was never shown. Just the ending of the battle. So the question is up in the air waiting to be answered by Kishi.

 

The truth about Pain is completely ambiguous.

He could have meant that knowing about the piercings being chakra receivers could have done him in.

He could have meant that the fact that there were six bodies and not three saved him from being caught in Jiraiya's genjutsu.

It could also have just been something he said to put on a show for Zetsu, who was present at the time and seems more loyal to Madara than to Pain.

We just don't know.

Most likely it isn't, given how horribly the vast majority of people are being beaten by him. The secret isn't anything obvious or easy to take advantage of.

Then again, Nagato is pretty much confirmed now as a living character, so I suppose that the Six Paths could be taken down by interfering with their chakra receivers. That would finally draw out the big bad to wipe the floor with everyone.

Sneaking in doesn't make sense either.

The only way this seems possible would be if Pain walked through the main gates with everyone else since the barrier doesn't seem to cover that entrance (anyone else ever think it was wierd that the ninjas always left through the main gate when they could easily climb the wall? Well there's your reason).

No doubt the guards would be on the lookout for anyone fitting Pain's description to pass through - seeing as Fukasaku delivered a full report to the village leaders.

And in regards to Itachi and Kisame - keep in mind that they weren't even in the village for half a day before they were found out and attacked. What are the chances that Pain lasts any longer when Konoha pretty much knows he's coming?

I'm still confused as to where people keep getting this whole "heart to heart" talk with his father, then kakashi would return. The fact that he died peacefully and accepted that fact fully, and when he did meet his father, there was no regret shown on his face. In fact he seemed pretty happy and content.

Anyway, in the latest issue, the death of kakashi is pretty much confirmed....

 

I still don't think Kakashi is dead. He never once used his Mangekyou in battle against Pain, and until he does, he won't die. I also think Naruto is going to figure out how to move and stil use Senjutsu... since it's akin to "looking left and right at the same time."

Tsunade versus Pain will be a good fight, especially since the other Paths aren't around to fuck things up.

 

I don't think it will be that great of a fight, Tsunade really doesn't have much going for her other than the super strength, and combat medic skills. I don't really see that being that amazing of an asset to have her win this.

 

You just described Sakura, not Tsunade.

EDIT: Sure, she doesn't have special eyes or Senjutsu, but she's fought hundreds of battles, she has ultra-strength (more than super strength), she can activate a seal that heals all wounds, and she's bound to know a lot of ninjutsu. The 3rd was her teacher, after all.

 

Sakura is Tsunade only sans the forehead seal, the slug contract, and the ability to shock someone's nerves causing the body to be all out of whack. All we have seen of Tsunade so leads me to believe she is just a great healer. When it comes to fighting she has a few show stoppers but if you stop that she's done for. Maybe she'll whip out some crazy new technique but I doubt it. We'll just see the same old shit of punching the ground to make an earthquake...

 

All we saw of Sarutobi before his fight with Orochimaru lead us to believe he was just an old pervert.

All we saw of Jiraiya before his fight with Pain lead us to believe he was a pretty strong pervert.

Get where I'm going? Tsunade wouldn't have gotten where she is if all she can do is create earthquakes with a finger and instantly heal everything. Being a ninja of her caliber requires that she has more abilities. We'll see those abilities in this very fight.

 

Yep, 'gree with you there. It's going to be a pretty cool fight. I don't believe Tsunade will die here, though; Pain has had his quota of the Sannin. Itachi offed Orochimaru and Pain killed Jiraiya. I'm guessing it'll be Madara that'll kill Tsunade.

Also, I do believe now that Konoha will drive Pain out without Naruto - or he'll get back towards the end of the fight to land the finishing blow. And yeah Naruto's about there with Sennin mode, isn't he? "Look left and right at the same time" - that should spur him on to get there even faster.

 

The downtime for Shinra Tensei should have been 2 seconds instead of 5. Simply because 5 second intervals make Kakashi and co look slow as shit when they really shouldn't be.

Pretty strong is bit of an understatement. He managed to send Itachi and Kisame scampering when we knew that Itachi had defeated Orochimaru. This was before we knew that Itachi was *good* though so...

I agree though. Tsunade should show more abilities than just smashy smashy and lolregeneration as Deva Pain's gravity and chakra spears counter both of these. Still, I don't expect to see her at Hermit mode Jiraiya's calibre or have Orochimaru's ridiculous durability for prolonged lengths of time.

Konan better redeem her honour :grumbles

But he never once used his Mangekyou against Kakuzu . If you count Mr Roboto's rockets that were fired at Chouji then he did end up using it.

 

And he vanished the nail Pain threw at him. If anything, he died because he overused it.
