    No.

The abuse starts only when someone like you comes along, starts a thread as opposed to posting in a thread already devoted to this (In the Death Hallows subforum, which you should have seen since it is inside General), and proceeds to dick-wave.

Be glad. That is because, fortunately, some fanfic writers are intelligent enough to know that immortals (basically the Dementors are indestructible) breeding is ill-conceived, and steered clear of one of JKR's many fuckups, which you either go to great lengths to rationalize when you can or ignore when you cannot.

What did you expect to be discussed? Your review contained nothing revelatory that isn't already in the thousands on Amazon.

Why is she a perfect match? She seems like a fairly ordinary girl to me.

*shrug* It wasn't the part of the story she was interested in telling. I mean, she could have written quite a bit on Lupin/Tonks, their relationship occurs almost entirely off-camera, but why should she? She could write chapter upon chapter about tons of stuff, but she doesn't. Heck, the amount of stuff we don't know about Dumbledore could probably fill another 700-page book.

And again, people fall in love in real life quickly and for very little logical reason all the time.

I think part of the problem here is you seem to be convinced that Rowling should be straining to convince you of every last point. She just doesn't write that way. If you're on her wavelength you enjoy it, and if you're not...well, you get the kind of reactions I'm seeing here. :)

Sure. I know people who are unbearably contrary, don't listen, explode at you when they're angry and on and on. So? People suck.

And if the characters weren't flawed, wouldn't you just be calling them Mary Sues?

I have some agreement with you there. Character being predetermined at birth takes away too much from free will for my comfort.

Really? So people who feel strongly emotional when reading something don't have a different perceptual experience from those who don't feel strongly emotional when doing so?

    Wait... *eyeroll*

How am I "dick-waving"? Is that like attention whoring? I'm not demanding praise or anything...

Total agreement. I had the same thought after I read the bit about dementors being indestructible.

Um...yeah. I figure most of the words that come out of your mouth on a daily basis aren't completely original either...does that mean you should never speak? Sheesh.

Okay, message recieved: DLP frequenters are hard, cold, jaded internet badasses who've seen and done it all, Harry Potter wise. I will let you suck each other's dicks in peace.

    That's what I meant by dick-waving.

After the first few paragraphs, your review literally consisted of a list of observations that anyone that read the book could have made.

    Rofl, even used dashes.

So, very insubstantial review that belies the thousands of words you typed up.

An intelligent review doesn't mean writing like a grade schooler and tacking on a single obscure word coined a decade ago, which you use as your shield when everyone doesn't instantly start sucking your dick and praising your profound insights.

Someone like Roger Ebert can legitimately silence me - his prose and epigrammic thrust to his reviewing makes me wish he was a novel writer.

The haughtiness just looks out of place on you because you're clearly not insightful, lackking a way with words, or overly intelligent.

Like a peasant condescending to another peasant.

LOL...are you the resident intellectual? I'm surprised you can type so well with your dick in your mouth. :)

Excuse me, wtf do you think you're doing?

You're throwing that accusation at entirely the wrong person, and I quite resent it.

As far as I know, I'm the only DLP member to succeed in getting their cock into their mouth, so shove off.

Wikipedia is not a legitimate source for you backing up your argument that exformational is a word. Sorry.

I can never understand why people try to back up arguments with wikipedia. It's like saying, "Hey, a friend of my cousin's best friend has an Aunt with an ex-boyfriend who said that exformational was a word! That proves I'm right, end of argument!"

Some of them are just observations. I should have edited it down to the meat before posting on this forum, true. Sorry about that. I figured, hey, this is the Internet, in other words I wasn't exactly composing a final thesis.

And the "dick-waving" was completely provoked by the instant wave of insults. I mean come on. "Enjoy your butthurt, faggot." That's the level of discourse here? I don't normally engage in flame wars, but I guess I'm weak today.

I was replying to a poster named "Zombie". I see their name quoted in the reply, don't you?

And your rebuttal was what I expected. You're taking the bait.

Learn to STFU, you butthurt faggot, and grow to realize that all the shit you're spewing isn't really worth all the effort you're putting into defending it.

I still think you should go hang yourself, JB seems to think the same thing, but you just can't get the message, nor do you seem to understand, that your topic is old hat, and you posting your shit here doesn't make you seem anymore kewl, nor will it make you welcome.

    GOODAY, SIR.

See, the problem is, you're posting it on the internet, which means it needs to be BETTER than a final thesis. We can and will tear apart every single thing you say, and enjoy it.

And really, when you come in with a made up word which is not a part of the English language, you have to expect insults.

    TL;DR?

    GTFO.

If properly referenced, a Wikipedia entry is as valid as any other information. If you don't understand what "proper referencing" is, then well, I can't help you.

I've used the word in discussion with a friend with a Masters in Comp Sci and a minor in Information Theory, which is where the word is from. I know that's not a proper reference, but hey...just being honest.

Alright, you guys can keep making fun of him for the content in his tl;dr post, but leave the personal insults out before I have to lock the thread.

Personal insults regarding the content of the OP are welcome, of course.

I understand that you're a very hostile person. And no, I won't be troubling you any more after this I think. This was just to kill time while cooking pancakes anyway. It made the time pass quickly, so mission accomplished.

No...you see, that would be if I were seeking your approval. I posted with no expectations, in the hope that someone might get a few seconds or minutes of enjoyment out of reading another person's thoughts. Hopelessly naive of me, I know.

Alright, what if I give you the word and trust the Wikipedia article, then what?

This word comes from a book I have not seen on the New York Times listings, and was coined only a decade ago. Words have taken longer to find their way into the vernacular.
Glad it worked out for you.

Edit: Zombie, people actively look through recently published books and find new terms to add to the calendar? -_-

    Just because.
