And yet, here we all are gathering around in a Harry Potter forum debating this.

The magic of Harry Potter was never its literary merit - otherwise we'd have all appreciated it and moved on. It was the possibilities it spawned in our minds.

Whether or not Rowling wrote it in that way purposely is debatable, but the matter remains that this series is one like few others - distinguished in its own way.

It's funny that Ron Weasley knew exactly what the cloak would do when Harry got it that Christmas in the first book. Wouldn't a cloak that could hide you from death be just a tad different from the standard invisibility cloaks?

All around, OP, your post seems rather pointless in its entirety. I can understand that you might not have been looking to post some insightful, dazzling comment that would blow our socks off, but this is DLP. If you come here and post something as tl;dr as what you just did, there better be some damn good comments and discussion that come from it or you are bound to get pedo!raped. Making pancakes just isn't good enough. You might not think so, but we have standards. That's the reason why we are known as fair and critical reviewers who don't care to tell you when you've fucked up.

And that, my friend, is exactly what happened. Your post like anyone else would on this forum, yet tried to come off as some knowledgeable scholar in your post. You might not have intended to, but that is exactly what happened and in the end, the only one your can blame for your douche-baggery is yourself. I can't tell if you are trolling or not, but if you were trolling and posted as massive a block of text as that....

    Well, you get the picture.

I think this is well said. Personally I doubt she intended to write it that way, but we will likely never know. It also explains why the fanfiction has taken off like it has.

I just read the entire OP instead of glancing through like I did last time. It really does seem like you are just going through and justifying everything that was most likely a flaw in the writing. Still, I can't prove that, so it's remotely possible she did intend to write that way from the start. :?

That said, what you did is a fairly common practice that sort of reminds me of Cliffs Notes -- it tells you what to think and how to think it because that's just how it is. The book was 'exformational' on purpose, Harry has nerves of steel, Hermione is one of the most happy and well adjusted characters, and so on. Maybe 200 years from now kids will be reading a Cliff notes version of Harry Potter for their summer reading projects that also goes through and justifies everything about the series. That doesn't mean it's correct, that it was what the author intended, or that it's the only right way to interpret the books. It's just one way of seeing things.

    No results found for exformational:
Did you mean ex formational (in dictionary) or Exformation (in reference)?
    Dictionary suggestions: Reference suggestions:
    ex formational Exformation
    ex-formational Oxford Channel
Would you like to search the encyclopedias, or search the Web for exformational?

Okay, I read the book, but is that seriously from Deathly Hallows? Because that's just awful and, while I wasn't paying much attention to the atrocious ending, I don't remember it at all.

Maybe I erased it from my memory...

    No that's from Terdwilicker.

Is anyone else waiting for Taure to post with the tl;dr to end them all, refuting each and every sentence that warpwizard has posted?

Yeah, I didn't pay enough attention to the little shit's name, and thought he was the OP on TFF's thread linked.

Although his new posts to his live-journal point to terdwilicker being a possible sock-puppet.

    ... she turned off anonymous comments. But you've gotta love the irony in statements like this;

where the dictionary I don't need to open says "amount" and "truly", and the one time I actually did while reading her fic -- the above "pon" -- the word wasn't listed. I'll admit, that confused me
