    Book Talk

I love books and I can't stop myself from reading. At the moment it is more Fanfiction than real books, but what can I do? I'm just addicted.

So why not start a thread about books in general? A thread where you can talk which books you are currently reading, which ones you like, what you think about it, which books are new and so on.

Just about everything what has a relation to books and doesn't need an own thead at the moment.

    Ok, let's start.

MOD EDIT: Compilation of a lot of recs here

The Hitchhiker is an ingenious book. It's just incredible.

42 is a standard answer if you don't know the question  and I know the question by heart (but only the German words: Die Antwort auf die Frage nach dem Leben, dem Universum und dem ganzen Rest!)

I've been more into Fiction, Sci-Fi, Horror and other such categories. Never been into romance or such.

Favorite book till now ยป Sherlock Holmes series by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Also I have read Sidney Sheldon (Doomsday Conspiracy ROX), The Bourne Identuty, Supremacy & Ultimatum by Robert Ludlum area a great read.

P.S. Anyone read Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody?

I've heard the first book as audio book. One time I don't need more, it's not really my humor.

Tell me about it. I read the first 4-5 pages and had an ultimate urge to commit suicide for starting to read it. I dunno how I even managed to read till there. I really like parodies but this one bit my ass.

If you think Sword of truth is long than you should read Wheel of Time.

@mordecai: It's just to crazy and stupid to tell. I would never read it so I was lucky that my neighbour got it on CD. One boring evening with my computer, listening to this and just don't compare them with JKR's people. This would be just to cruel especially for Ron.

@feartheturtle: I don't think I can tell you what the Hitchhiker is about. It's about everything. It about Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent. Ford is an Alien and saves Arthur. Both hitch-hike through the galaxy.

It's just to complicated to explain. Just read it or listen to the BBC radio play

Edit: Or wait for the movie, coming this year I think

Bah! Wheel of Time is not long. No, no, not at all. Its uber-long. I have the books with me and I want to start reading them since everyone tells me they are nice and all. But just one look at the size and I retreat. I dunno how Robert Jordan wrote all that.

No they arent that long when you have started reading. I read them 2years ago in swedish and than they are 18 books. It took me one and a half month to read them. Ok, I was obbsessed. Maybe read the whole time. But I really recommend them if you havent read them. And now I am wating for the next book to come out.

I think I have read some of the books in the dragonlance seires but that was years ago so I am not sure. If you want good fantasy you should also read Raymond E Feist RiftWar Saga. They are really good.

18?? Hmm, here in America there are only ten books. ::shrugs::
I can't wait for Knife of Dreams to come out too, I heard he's going to release it in October of this year. He left us with many questions in the last book, hopefully they'll be answered in book #11. One and a half months? Wow, impressive. I could never do that.

I have read Flowers for Algernon! I loved that book, a tad bit sad, though.

My friend read the Dragonlance series, but I never started reading them. I really need to start in that series.

Has anyone read The Stranger by Albert Camus? I absolutely love that book.

Oh, and of course, The Great Gatsby (hence my signature). I had to read that for school, so it was amazing that I actually liked the book.

@feartheturtle: Could you please tell me the Author? Most of the books I read were translated into German and so I don't know the English titles.
