I can't believe I'm gonna say this but...

Does anyone else think Naruto is now ridiculously strong? I'm mean I'm all for Naruto kicking ass and such. But considering Pain tore Jiraiya apart and Jiraiya's abilities were similar to Naruto's, though he didn't have much regarding information regarding Pain.

Plus Jiraiya has about 40 years of combat experience and Naruto spent...what? A few weeks if that with the toads?

...But then again it is Naruto...

    Any thoughts?

Hmmm...Jiraiya didn't have the full range of Sage mode abilities. That Gama-fu thing that Naruto used to punch Hungry Ghost Pain silly was not seen when Jiraiya was fighting.

Also Naruto had the advantage of 3 humongous toads backing up his moves against the summons, Fukasaku and Shima were not constrained to sit on his shoulder like they were with Jiraiya and he has enough chakra to simultaneously pull out 2 Ultimate Rasengans and not break a sweat. Add to that the Katsuyu clone is advising him and he's heard the toad sages' input too. So naturally, he looks strong as all hells. It'd be disappointing if he wasn't so strong after all that.

But I'm thinking there'll be a hell of a fight before Pain's bodies withdraw of get drilled into the ground. His abilities are that great after all and Hell Pain who can revive the others, is sitting at the back waiting as well.

Yeah, from the looks of it some of the perks of Senjutsu is that he gains some of the things he had while in Kyuubi mode. The quote is an example of that ability of his while using Kyuubi to swing and miss but the opponent is still hit by the presence of Kyuubi's chakra.

It's nice to see Naruto finaly being a kickass ninja.

Hard to believe that he improved so much in such little time training, but I'm happy with the way he is now. This is what I wanted him to be since time skip.

Sasuke is still my favourite though, I prefer his avenger them over Naruto's protect his precious people theme.

Even if Naruto defeats all the bodies there the real Pein is somewhere else with more bodies, so don't think this fight will be the end of their vendette.

I'm still wondering how Sasuke will take the destruction of the village and Kakashi's apparent death.

I'm not able to decide if it is a reflection/derivative of the Kyuubi chakra cloak or not. It is definitely similar though...

From what Fukasaku said, it looks like Senjutsu (btw, is that the Japanese term for Sage Techniques?) draws natural energy surrounding him into his body and Gama-fu style conditions it to strike Naruto's opponent likely controlled by his mind. It seems to be an inherent trait of the frog-kata that Jiraiya never mastered 'cause he never mastered sage-mode in the first place and therefore never achieved that sage aura that Naruto has.

Lol. Wrong forum to admit you like Sasuke over Naruto. I'd prepare for rape/get in the ass kissing position.

    Sage!Naruto ftw.

Senjutsu is Kishimoto japanese, as in, he combines other words to create words.

almchristensen - I almost feel sorry for you. Almost.

    Yes.

It will be very hard for Kishimoto to make us believe that any characters aside from Nagato and possibly Madara will be able to compete with Naruto at all.

I'm wondering what villains like Zetsu, Kisame, and Kabuto have in store for them, since they'd be slaughtered ruthlessly by current Naruto.

I don't know if it's "Kishimoto Japanese" I mean, look at other martial arts, jujutsu, aikijutsu. Ju and aiki are terms on their own, though sen is probably a shortening of sennin ("hermit" "sage" though probably better rendered as "sage hermit" since hermit in english has negative connotation). Adding jutsu just makes it into "art form". (do (judo, aikido) and jutsu are 'interchangable' though they have different meanings and reflect different attitudes on MA)

I thought it was nice Naruto was able to contend with Pain, and him taking charge and doing something right for once is great. But the fight itself? Naruto spamming clones and rasengan and using his newly obtained powerup? More of the same. Shounen seems typical of that though.

I have to admit it's about time he did something right on a first attempt :p. I don't have a problem with the Ultimate Rasengan or the ease with which he is matching Pain here. There will be a comeback from Pain - he doesn't seem too worried by Naruto handing out ass-kickings like candy for kids.

But yeah, it is typical shonen manga. If you read Bleach you'll remember that Ichigo achieved Bankai in less than 3 days - and this, a month after acquiring Zangetsu (which took a week's effort) his soul slayer. Of course, every other character at the same level in the series took years to awaken their soul slayers and decades to get Bankai.

I see Sasuke and Naruto as a parallel to Batman and Superman. I like both when they're well writen, and hate it when thery're acting like idiots, but with all things being equal I prefer dark, vengeful Sasuke/Batman to bright, happy Naruto/Superman.

Except that Batman isn't a whiny piece of garbage that lets people lead him around by the nose for their own twisted means.

    Sasuke is a tool.

    The bad kind.

Never really saw sasuke whine, sure he got frustrated with his lack of progress from time to time, but he got off his ass pretty quickly and did something about it.

More often than not that was to find a more powerful ninja and learn what he could from them. He uses the others as much as they use him. He may be a bit of an ass at times, but what do you expect from a kid that had his whole family murdered by his brother and growing up learning to be a mercenary spy, thief, and assassin ie ninja?

    owait?

Oh and soon to learn that his friend is now buddies with the guy who set the demon on the Village and is thus responsible for all the shite he's had to put up with since day one?

Yeah, Sasuke has way more reason to be a whiny little emo fagsack than Naruto. That's why we all love him and abhor Naruto. Yes. Kakashi explained why this revenge shit is shit way back in Part I. And I don't really see how it's possible to find satisfaction in Sasuke's sudden desire to destroy all of Konoha (lol, too late hotplate) because the Elders ordered Itachi (who he killed, kinda) on the word of some stranger that (Oh, and remember Sasuke thinks Madara halped with massacres) St. Itachi obviously didn't want him anywhere near. Oh, and his crew is shit.

Never said Sasuke was a nice guy, just that I prefer him over Naruto. The fact that there is controversy over the most pivotal events in his life only adds to him being an interesting character. As for him saying he wants to destroy Konoha, so far he has only said it to Mandara, he hasn't done anything yet. Remember when he said he'd give his body to Orochimaru?

Turns out he was just followin Oro to get stronger and get close enough to finish him off. If he follows the same MO then he's just getting close to Mandara, who helped in the massacre, to better learn the truth of what happened before making any final decisions as to who he needs to kill next. You know using that spy and infiltration training he picked up at the accademy to learn about the truth.

Some people find revenge to be worth whatever the price it costs. Perhaps they're not the most common, but for some being happy with friends just dosen't equal the satifaction of destroying those who harmed them. Like Marv from Sin City said, "...worth killing for, worth dying for, worth going to Hell for." I happen to like stories about people with that kind of determination to be able to throw away everything to finish their purpose.
