I'd like to propose an amendment to LV. He can find the uber-weapon but he has to accidentally break it before he even removes it from his vault.
Karma for all that excessive luck he seems to have.

Ummm, No? Who is LV, what uber-weapon and why would it be in a vault? What luck has this 'LV' had?

Also, Who the hell is that in your avatar? I want to say Gohan, but could be Naruto or Cloud.

I would assume 'Lord Voldemort' is LV. As for the rest, I'm stumped.

When I read LV, my mind automatically interpreted that as Las Vegas. Which made for some interesting mental gymnastics before I figured out it meant Potter Law LV, which states:

I've heard of some ridiculous plot bunnies before, but Horse!Luna is the only one that made me laugh so hard.

Also, while I do agree that Issac's post isn't that good as an amendment, I don't agree Knox that the post is stupid. The idea would be a good idea for any parodies that wish to play on these cliches.

I wonder if that has anything to do with Radcliffe's horse play.

The whole concept of some magical item thingie being a uber-weapon for either side was cliched long before Rowling tossed the Deathly Hallows into the HP series. I swear, it's a staple of a good bit of fantasy fiction. The hero suddenly discovers some enchanted weapon that's the key to defeating the evil overlord. IMHO, the Deathly Hallows were the lamest part of the whole canon series. I'm not sure you can have a Potter Law against this sort of thing, though, because JKR already violated it in the canon universe.

If there had been a little work put into getting them, the DH's could have been awesome.

Rather than just a treasure hunt, Harry and Co. should have had their training tested. It's been a while since I read DH, but I'm sure it would have been a better book if the group had to use complex magical theories and spells in order to have the Hallows work for them, rather than just "Oh I disarmed you, now I have the Uber-Wand!"

    ...

Am I the only one who thought the whole point of DH (well, one of them) was to prove the Deathly Hallows weren't as 'uber' as they sounded? That their power mainly depended on their owner's intentions? JKR loves this kind of morality.

Tinn: you're not the only one.

I also didn't think that the Hallows came out of nowhere like everyone else did. It's simply impossible for objectivity when you've read so much fanfiction.

Hmm. I agree with you both on the first point, though the latter point made by Blaise ... what makes you say that because as far as I've ever seen, the Deathly Hallows weren't foreshadowed in a single earlier book, even if you look back in retrospect. We have the Cloak, which all around didn't seem special as both Dumbledore and Moody -who doesn't have a Hallow- can see through it; the ring, which you understand is dangerous because of the piece of Voldemort's soul in it, not because of any Resurrecting properties; and finally the wand, which you had no clue was powerful for any other reason besides the fact that it was Dumbledore's.

Really? I dunno - it all made sense to me. I always thought it was weird no one said things like " I want a wand like Dumbledore's!" - which one would expect when a child hear's about "the greatest wizard of their age". The Cloak's lack of fading was strange to me, too - though I'll admit that I expected it to somehow lose its power in some sort of hokey situation during DH.

I also expected him to get another wand, as the brother wand thing was flagged as a huge obstacle in GoF. But again, my train of thought went towards something silly - using his parents' wands. The ring drew attention to itself by nature of the fact that he flat-out refused to explained why he would be retarded enough to use a horcrux (after the events of CoS), so I was definitely expecting some crucial explanation in that regard. I feel like all the clues were there, just not blatantly predictable. Anyone could've guessed that wands and his first truly unique magical gift would be extremely important though.

EDIT@Black Mage: Ignoring the fact that after thousands of years there was bound to be some magical advancement to counteract invisibilty cloaks, the real power of the Cloak was the fact that it couldn't be Summoned and never faded.

The only item I count as baseless faggotry is the Deluminator.

The Deathly Hallows were some last minute or book covering by Rowling I think thats also the main problem people have with Ginny. You wait six out of seven books to drop some crap on me? The plot line wasn't bad and it was after HBPs disappointing lessons with Dumbledore the only way Harry would ever beat Voldemort but still. Even if its 600 pages its still read in one sitting. A cloak that an echanted eye can see through isn't very Hallowy either. Sorry bout any mistakes I'm on my psp.

Tbe basic thing was disarming someone, but most wizards pretty much killed their predecessor, making the Elder Wand possess a bloodpath in wizarding history like no other.

Eh, I enjoyed Dumbledore's involvement in HBP, and I think his death was one of the most well-written moments in the books. My main problems with HBP were the sudden injection of 'sex, drugs and rock n' roll', Lav Lav, and Ginny. She suddenly goes from a near Mary-Sure character to a complete bitch. Seriously the worst written character in the series. ._.

So I'm not the only one. =P

On topic, I liked the Hallows.
