He really is a bit silly as a character. I mean, he wanted to kill his brother and rebuild his clan - so what does he do? - goes to Orochimaru, who doesn't care one whit about rebuilding the Uchiha clan. If he really had so much pride in his clan then he should not have been willing to sacrifice his body to kill Itachi 'cuz it defeats the purpose. And I don't think for a moment that he thought about all that 'get close to Oro and off him when he's weak' shit when he was leaving the village after angsting about how Naruto was getting stronger faster than him.

While I agree with you about revenge being a strong motivator, going and believing Madara's word about Itachi and Konoha and then immediately deciding that Konoha has to be destroyed, is stupid. The reasoning was not strong enough, almost as though all that wallowing in desire for revenge has made him incapable of feeling anything other than that desire. Obviously the way he's going, if he destroys Konoha he'll have to commit suicide 'cuz there'll be nothing else to be vengeful about after that and he's incapable of feeling anything else. He won't succeed of course, but that is his character as it's been written.

It's the reason I prefer the way Naruto's been written. He's a lot more colourful and can stand on his own as the main charater. The dark, revenge seekers are mostly one-dimensional and don't afford any satisfaction in reading unless balanced out by a character like Naruto.

Anyway, that's my opinion. Your choices are yours, and I'm not against them ^_^.

 

I'm against it. Sasuke's character and motivation has never made any sense.

OK, so he wants revenge. Go get it then, stop buddying up with the guys who helped Itachi kill your clan or stand in the way of your goals (doesn't make sense lols).

At best, Sasuke isn't seeking revenge for his clan, that's just some delusional rationalizing. As far as I can tell, Sasuke just wants to one-up his brother, who he's just envious of.

Naruto is just as 2-dimensional (canon) but he at least has some virtues, whereas Sasuke is just a scum bag who is somehow a genius ninja with the gifted ability to win every fight he enters.

 

I still wonder what the series would have been like if Kishi never listened to his editors and made a rival character for Naruto.

 

Horrible, because their would be no controversy. See how many pages we have devoted to griping about Sasuke? All that would be gone. That really stupid guy... I can't remember his name, Oji or Ojo or some shit, but he would've never got flamed (he probably would have), and Naruto's current pwnage wouldn't be as satisfying.

Naruto brings out yet another variant of the Rasengan - Rasen-Ren-gan (Spiralling Linked Sphere). He also throws the Rasen-Shuriken and by the end of the chapter looks to have taken out five of the Pain bodies and is also definitely out of sage mode. God-Realm seems like the only one remaining.

I highly doubt that he'll go into the kyuubi modes. One of the themes that's been happening for the last 100+ chapters has been Naruto going the distance alone.

Seeing Naruto going supersaiyan and stomping the Pain bodies in such a quick succession hasn't been particularly exciting IMO. Actually, it's been pretty fucking terrible. And considering that Hell Pain (revival body) is still alive and Naruto's little power up's gone, the fight should get get a little more interesting. I fucking hope so anyway, as Naruto vs Pain should have been the best fight in theory.

And here I was hoping for a Sonic Boom attack...

 

I really hope Sage Mode is expended, but why did Naruto's eyes light up when Pa told him drawing natural energy when moving was like looking left and right at the same time.

I'm thinking he has a way of quickly gaining Sage Mode again, but I hope to fuck not.

 

Maybe it's just me, but I did not like this chapter.

I was expecting just one new tech from him... Something original that we have not seen... Yet, all we get is another variant of the Rasengan... FFS.

Next chapter we will get another horde of shadow clones and surprise Futon Rasengan.

He's spent four hundred plust chapters being the second main character, and now that he's finally the shit, he's too strong... (it is a bit ridiculous, I'll give you that) But jesus fucking christ give it a break. Shit.

I think most of us are disgruntled in the manner in which Naruto got powerful. The Senjutsu training/kage bunshin training reeks of Dragonball Z so much that some of us just roll our eyes.

The smart thing for Kishimoto to have done would have been to have Naruto learn Senjutsu over the time skip. When he got back he would learn things like Rasenshuriken with Kakashi, and delve into the Kyuubi topic with Tenzo. At least this way, his power would have a sense of believability.

However, I am starting to think that Jiraiya focused on Kyuubi for a reason. He may have been gearing Naruto toward something that will require having knowledge of how to use Kyuubi and the key. Probably revolving around what ever "that jutsu" that Jiraiya mentioned to the frog key.

 

I do like that they took advantage of "cutting the connection," which was a little more involved than just kicking their ass. Maybe the real battle starts now? I mean one on multiple opponents always has to pan out like in martial arts movies, a buildup to the boss character.

 

My question is how do you run out of sage chakra? I probably understood it wrong but I thought going Sage Mode meant being one with nature, and constantly tapping into the natural energy and using it. I thought it was a constant stream of energy he was tapping into, not some finite stored capacity.

Also how the fuck does Shikamaru's Dad know all about Sage mode? Seemed like a pointless scene. "No son he's in a league all to himself, we would just stand in his way. Now you sit there with your broken leg, while I stare aimlessly into the sky, pondering the unponderables".

 

How do you get in the way, with a technique that holds someone in place, with an intangible rope?

It does, doesn't it? Kage Bunshin is like the Time Chamber, and Senjutsu is very much like SSJ. As a kid, SSJ was awesome, but in hindsight, rather cheap, to just pile on transformation after transformation. It made everything before it seem cheap.

I think the problem is we're all looking for logic from a clearly illogical man. we might as well ask a rock to cook breakfast. Ain't gonna happen.

 

I would say Senjutsu is worse than SSJ. SSJ did not come up randomly; it was a concept that was around for a while. Remember Frieza blew up the Saiyan planet to prevent SSj from coming about and stopping him. Vegeta had tried for a while to be SSJ and couldn't. Also SSJ was meant to be the climactic end of the series with Goku defeating Frieza with it and that being the end, but fans wanted him to continue the series and thus it became what it did.

Senjutsu came out of thin air right when Naruto needed it. Oh what's this Pein is too strong? No worries we'll just write in a new plot device to give Naruto a leg up. And to make it seem like this isn't random, let's throw Jiraiya in there and die using it.

Assuming the snakes have senjutsu techniques and are willing to tell them to Sasuke. He did get Manda killed. (Manda is dead, right?)

 

I think when a manga or anime has been going on for so long anything new and completely different in terms of a power up is going to look somewhat deus ex machinaish. While SSJ has some basis in the earlier sections, its connection is vague at best. Frieza destroyed the planet because of their potential not necessarily SSJ. They did get stronger after every fight or something like that.

As for the chapter, Naruto kicking this much ass does seem to come out of no where, but we also don't know any where near the full capabilities of the Pein bodies. He also has only destroyed the built bodies, the copies or whatever you want to call them. I would imagine the strongest body would be his actual one, and the others are just temporary conduits of his techniques. The thrown rasengan exactly like something in fanfiction (I remember a story a while ago about a rasengan similar that was compressed into a shuriken shape and then thrown and guidable--it was way before shippuden though can't remember the name though.).
