Which would be an extremely short-sighted attitude to have because you would think that the sooner they can get MORE magicals raised into taxpayers to relieve them of the tax burden, the better.

No one ever accused wizards of possessing logic.

It likely depends on her NEWT level course choices at Beauxbatons. We don't know a whole lot about what they teach in France, and Durmstrang is, to the best of my knowledge, just touted as "a school that focuses on the Dark Arts". It's entirely possible that these schools offer placement opportunities or internships to their senior students and graduates, like many real-world schools do.

Or it could be Bill Weasley's influence with the goblins at work, as Fleur met him during the Triwizard Tournament and didn't take the part-time job at Gringotts until after said competition.

You are now confusing Canon with the Lie I've lived. :) We don't know that they met at Hogwarts.

Things from fanon don't usually hit Wikipedia: "It is during the Triwizard Tournament when Fleur meets Bill Weasley, to whom she later becomes engaged after working together during the next year in Gringotts."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleur_Delacour#Fleur_Delacour

I'm not saying she started to date Bill during the Triwizard competition, and I'm not saying that Bill might have put in a word because they were dating. The Weasley family in general has been written as very warm, caring, open and generous people. It isn't too much of a stretch to imagine Bill discovering Fleur wants to improve her English skills and perhaps offer to help get her a job at Gringotts, where he himself works.

I read one story "Stanger in Unholy Land" were Harry explains that:
Muggle raised wizards could always choose to just as a muggle after school. Putting all that knowhow to waste
When was the last time a wizard did something smart?

Was starting up a dangerous tournament?
    Ignoring witness statements?
Soul sucking a bound witness/prisoner before he could give a statement?
Taking the Ostrich approach to danger?
(Hell that was from like only 3 chapters)

Yes wizards clearly know how to do things.
Its just the fact that purebloods have to spend their money on muggleborns.

Oh noes! Something dangerous! Get a grip. Football injuries are worth than the injuries in the tournament.

...That's pretty smart, when you want to cover something up.

Again, Fudge didn't want him to talk -for stupid reasons perhaps, but that was his intent- why is it stupid?

    Money.

I sure Football and fighting Dragons is a little different.
Plus they stopped the Triwiz becuase it was too dangerous. People died
Not when the most feared mass murderer is back

How is doing nothing while a rebal/evil army builds up make money?
Unless Fudge was corrupt, which was never said/proven. He was just paranoid about Dumbledore trying to take his job.

I seem to remember a scene in OotP where Harry and Arthur see Lucius handing Fudge a sack of gold.

Could be a scene from a fanfic, though. I don't have my book to check.

Fudge was generally viewed as a well-intentioned but ultimately bumbling and ineffective Minister for Magic. He let his fear and paranoia rampantly guide his administration during his tenure, but there's nothing I recall that actually states or implies he was corrupt and complicit in the downfall of the Ministry, beyond his tendency to stick his head in the sand.

No that was Umbridge. She went behind his back to get rid of Harry. Or at the very least get him expelled.

I'm sure some football/soccer/whatever players have died over the years from some training-stress issues. The triwizard is what, every once a few years?

    same death-rate to me.

    True
Although, to be honest, fighting a dragon is > training for a soccer match.

Personally think someone needs to start the v2 or this thread, and have the first post with a list of all the H/F stories that have been discussed...

I cant remember what page I was on last time I was reading this thread :)

Well, sure, but for an excellent almost fully trained wizard (as they were supposed to be) it should be difficult, not life-threatening. Also, replace soccer with boxing and it almost evens out, methinks.

    Yeah, Okay

I think I'd rather take a couple rounds with Ali.

...the movies is hardly evidence. If I recall, it was much easier in the books.
