If I was going to do a Frank Herbert movie, I would want to take a stab at Jorj X McKie, Bu Sab agent, Four stories to play around with, they are shorter stories than dune, so it is easier to add, were as with dune there is a pressure to edit or subtract.

Definitely a Farseer trilogy adapation... though there's so many ways that could fail I'd be wary.

Any Pratchett adaptation is bound to fail. Most of the funny things can't be translated into a movie, especially in Bad Omens (good shit, that)

I agree that Dune deserves a decent movie... the one that was done was ridiculous.

The Name of the Wind FTW !

I agree with the Dark Tower series movie, that would be awesome!

A Kotor film would also be very good.

An updated Superman film where he has a legit bad guy rather than Lex Luthor and his kryptonite island (Lame) would be good, and they are meant to be rebooting the series.

And I wouldnt mind seeing a Naruto Live action film.

The problem with that is that I think they would put it through the same buttrape they are giving the DBZ movie.

Precisely. Well, it could turn out pretty lulzy, actually. I know I'm going to see DBZ if only to laugh my ass off

On the topic of game-to-movie adaptations, who (other than me) thinks Call of Duty 4 would make a decent movie at least?

On the same topic, KOTOR would make a pretty nice film, in my opinion. Same as Diablo II and Starcraft.

    Last one especially.

They did a pretty good Colour of Magic adaptation. My sister, who has never and will never read the books, really enjoyed it on it's own merits. But you're right about Good Omens, too many internal monologues.

I would really like to see a movie about The Saint, you know, from the same era as James Bond but with a more interesting writer? All the books had a little doodle of a stick figure with a halo? They were awesome. I can't remember who by though.

On Pratchett adaptions, they did some 2 part TV-movies on the Colour of Magic (also included the Light Fantastic) and Hogfather. They were pretty good in my eyes, especially the depiction of Death (and David Jason as Albert). Susan was pretty hot too.

All in all they were reasonable adaptions, but they still don't hold a candle to the books. It's kinda funny, but whenever I hear news of new potential Alzheimer's cures I always cheer because it could help Pratchett keep writing :p.

I want to pretend spider-man 3 never happened, and then I want them to fire that tobey kid and remake the movie, and focus on VENOM. Dammit, how could they screw it up so... badly...

I second or third the Farseer trilogy--those books are, I think, the best character driven books I've ever read.

The Sword of Truth books--I know, I know, a lot of people hate them, and they get lame and preachy toward the middle, but DAMN... they're making a tv series, and it sucks. It makes my heart cry.

Mistborn Trilogy--if you haven't read them, you should. Those books were made to be on screen.

The star wars prequels--without george directing. He can produce if he wants.

Naomi Novik's 'His Majesty's Dragon' series: I know it sounds gay on first glance, but if they un-pussyfied the main character a bit, how awesome would the napoleonic wars on dragon-back be?

Yes superman, yes name of the wind (although it's hard to tell where he's goin with that one) and a hesitant yes on wheel of time... although i don't think they'll find anyone to fit Rand. How many towering, gray eyed, tan skinned red-heads do you guys know?

As an aside, I'm kinda of the opinion that anime characters should stay animated. Even something as great as cowboy bebop--not that I wouldn't love to see what they do with those spaceships in cg, but... Keanu? As Spike? Nnnnoooo.... and Naruto; the very idea gives me chills, and not in a good way.

I don't know, could be interesting to see Keanu Reeves as Spike. He's never going to get the carefree happy moments right but Spike gets kinda monotonous when he's serious. And Dark Tower movie ftw.

    1. KOTOR. That would make a awesome movie. But only if Lucas stays 100 ft away from it at all times.

    2. The Codex Alera series. I would love to see what Peter Jackson could do with that. I'm only on book 2 but the rest of the series seems pretty awesome.

Sidenote: Does Amara die anytime soon? I really, really want her to. Every time I see her name at the beginning of a chapter I cringe.

    3. As for anime, well they're already doing DBZ, Astroboy, Battle Angel Alitia, and Cowboy Bebop. I think Robotech would be a awesome live action movie if done correctly.

    4. American Gods by Neil Gaiman would be a brilliant movie.

No. Just no. Spike actually has emotion in his voice when he talks. The only reason why Keanu was halfway decent of The Day the Earth Stood Still was because the part he was required to play needed little to no emotion!

As for DBZ, look what Akria Toriyama said:

Hellsing. I don't want to see any stupid editing or pandering to get a low rating. I'm talking gore on a level of which hostel would be put to shame. I want the best graphics and some convincing blood because Alucard always gets shot to hell before laughing and coming back for more.

The Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton absolutely needs to be either made into a movie or a TV series. There'd be so much potential!
