I really don't feel like rereading the first few books, I really found them quite dull, too be honest. I think i'll start rereading around book 6. Though book 4 was good as well.

I havent read the Thomas book yet but I can see Thomas getting the sword. Fits the royal blood the thing too. His dad being the King of the White Court.

You know, I didn't notice this was actual Jim Butcher material. Looking back on the reading, I realize that it isn't that much better than some of the material posted in WBA.

The real difference is the planning in the plot - otherwise the actual writing quality isn't anything special.

4.5/5, Butcher, if only because Butters is a sissy bitch and acted a bit OOC in his snapping at Harry. Though, I guess OOC doesn't apply to you since you wrote the goddamn series.

I really don't like picturing Butters with black hair. I prefer him in the mold of an Einstein-esque mad scientist, with crazy white hair going every which way.

I don't know. I kind of like imagining that someone will write a HP crossover where Harry P is Butters and is just laughing at the Dresden wizards.

The descriptions of the pair sound really similar - short, wiry black hair, green eyes.

Except Harry P. doesn't like polka.

Only drunk German American people like polka.

You know, Butcher's writing, as far as style and quality go, never impressed me. I am just caught up in the content, which has a lot of fan-favors in it, but is still entertaining. Hell, even the basic plot structure of every book is repeated but something still keeps me coming back.

I think one of the best thing about the DF series, is the constant evolution of the characterization of Harry Dresden. Like, frankly, the first 3 books bored the hell out of me, the only reason I persevered is because of one sentence. "Yeah, personal experience." "Who was it?" "Lasciel" or something like that, from Shezza's work. However, around Dead Beat, it started getting extremely good, just in terms of the fact that a plot seems to be coming into place.

Also, what N mentioned really annoyed me as well, the same structure of plot was repeated every book, in the first few.

Just read chapter two, really I don't know what to say.

It seems like a good start so far, we don't really learn anything that we didn't already suspect, besides a slightly more precise reason for Morgan to be implicated...

I dunno, maybe it's because I just want to get stuck into the meat of the text instead of reading one chapter a week until it's release in April, but reading this new update didn't do anything for me.

Any thoughts about who the traitor might be? I really hope that it's someone that Harry knows. Everyone keeps suggesting that it may be Ebenezer but that would be too easy. Honestly, I'm hoping that it's Luccio. Just to see what Harry's reaction would be.

I had my heart set on LaFortier, who I really wanted to see die. Sadly we won't get to see how he was taken out, that annoys me.

I am not so sure now. It really has to be someone Harry knows. The list is short. It would be fun if it is Luccio, would explain why she suddenly had the hots for him. She's trying to put her hooks in him and bring him to dark side.

Shit, logical next step would be Susan coming back and remarking her territory, saving Dresden from himself. - I really hope I am wrong - Susan needs to be dead.

I heard that Susan was making a comeback in book 12.

The traitor is Harry, and the headaches are the signs of mind control.

I don't actually think that, but its an interesting idea.

    That would be funny.

I say the Merlin. Watch it be McCoy who brings it up with Harry just to make sure Harry doesnt even think about suspecting him.

I never really thought the writing itself was that great. The characters and the plot are what sets it apart.

Harry's probably going to wind up thinking it's either Luccio or McCoy, and be taken completly off guard when it turns out to be Injun Joe.

This. Though time-travelling Dresden and Molly will always hold a place in my heart.

I could actually see that working if something happened to make Dresden really hate the council that much.

What if they murdered Thomas and/or Susan on their vampire staking rampage?

Anyways, two chapters defintely isn't enough to form an opinion, but I like that we're finally going to find out the traitor in this book. (Hopefully.)

Not talking about the traitor in that post talking about Cowl and his apprentice.
