    OMG! KISSING! ON THE LIPS!

Man, I haven't heard the phrase "kissing on the lips" since I was about 10, back when that stuff was important.

Was it just me or was Harry quoting Richard from Looking for Group? The doing interrogation wrong line.

Meh. Fae are fae. Incest means nothing to them, as do many human ideas.

Also, awesome chapters, I'm looking forward to Harry fighting the dragon(s) :D.

    There's an incosistency.
I know it's nothing major, but couldn't help myself from pointing it out.

Best damn quote out of the whole chapter. That being said I hope that issue of Maeve calling Harry soft wasn't forgotten because it seems Harry got over it too quickly. Update moar

Does anyone else think Maeve called him that so that he would try to overcompensate and potentially get himself killed? It seems like what a Fae would do; manipulate a person's arrogance so that he becomes reckless in the attempt to prove that he's not soft. Looks like Shezza may be setting up a Xanatos Gambit.

Yo. Last scene of Chapter 15 is up. I'll go through this thread tomorrow, pick out all the suggested edits and tinker with it. Hopefully, it'll be posted on FF.Net by midday and I can get started on the next chapter on the way home from uni.

Is the gold trap canon or fandom?

Nice chapter but Verrine gets on my damn nerves can you kill the bitch already?

Yes. It's been a long time coming, really. Maeve wasn't letting Amaris string along just for the fun of it. She obviously has an ulterior motive -- goading Harry into making hasty decisions, and luring him over to the Nevernever, being the most likely ones. But what would killing Harry really accomplish? Revenge, alone, seems a little too petty for the Winter Queen. Perhaps, with Harry gone, she believes Amaris would have no reason to choose the mortal realm over her Faerie heritage? I dunno ...

Then again, I might be looking at this the wrong way.

Shezza's known to be random and unpredictable, which is why I enjoy his her work as much as I do. :awesome

Great update BTW. Some really awesome one-liners in there ...

I am honestly not sure that Maeve could kill Harry too easily. The only real time when a fae has seriously gone up against a Denarian was in Small Favor with Elder Gruff but Harry isnt ape boy either. I still believe Maeve seriously underestimates how dangerous Harry has become.

Point taken. But I believe we have already gone over this a few pages back. To quote one of your earlier posts:

I was merely having a guess at Maeve's motives; not her ability to take Harry down in a fight.

Although, I don't think I can quite agree with you when you say Maeve is underestimating Harry. She is obviously magically attuned enough to sense his growing powers -- she is just too damn proud, and pissed at him, to acknowledge his current magical prowess. The fact that she chooses to plot and conspire against him, rather than killing him outright, is proof enough that she considers Harry a worthy adversary.

Harry vs Maeve would make an epic battle scene -- the mere thought of it makes me giddy with anticipation. :awesome

I'm pretty sure she tapped the ground with her foot.
    playful
    instead of swinging open
unless current phrasing is correct and I just don't know it.

Now, I'm pretty sure you are trying to be as close to canon as possible so:
This is especially important to the timing in last scene.

Your update rate is astounding, especially considering that quality didn't suffer. I loved some one-liners, liked killing dragon with an AK, and am expecting Dumbledore's interaction with Verrine. The last one might be funny.

IMO Maeve should still be able to squash Harry fairly easily, judging by how powerful she was in DR (able to lend enough power to defeat a Drakon).

The Sword of the Cross is in Harry's favour, as would be Maeve's weakness to iron (which Harry could conjure/transfigure), but in terms of raw power Meave is still leagues ahead of Harry.

Harry was powerful at the time he fought the Drakon but compared to now he is far more powerful and has many more tools at his disposal: sword, word, more advanced knowledge of magic, training from Dumbledore.

Harry has increased in power yes, but I see this as a quantitative difference. I see Maeve as being on an entirely different level (i.e. qualitatively different).

    Lets put this in perspective.

The Faerie Queens are said to be about as powerful as one of the old gods, which is about as powerful as an archangel, which is about as powerful as Meciel in her unchained form.

Now, Maeve is a Lady not a Queen, but she's still fuck-off powerful. To kill her Harry would have to get very lucky indeed (like Harry Dresden did).

That said, the sword (Michael was able to kill a Drakon) + Words may be able to do it. It all depends on how powerful Words can get.

Once Harry has mastered words (i.e. is able to use them without injuring himself in any but the most minor of ways and has a good repertoire of them) and gets a bit better at transfiguration I reckon he's about approaching the point where he could take Dumbledore/Voldemort in a fight and win (transfiguration and Words are what Dumbledore has on Harry, other than general magical lore).

So Harry = Dumbledore, roughly, in terms of combat ability, or is approaching that point.

I don't think Dumbledore is as powerful as Maeve.

Yet Dumbledore + Fawkes in Hogwarts > Maeve. Just remember that part as well.

Not sure how much the wards have to do with it though.

Edit: Shezza, I found the end a bit anticlimactic. I mean, Super!Dumbledore can make portkeys out of Gringotts! Eh, I think he should of had to fight his way out, or at least had a harder time of breaking in.

Also, why not get him roughed up a bit for Amanda? Having her ask questions could be potentially amusing.

"Aaah," Harry drawled. "I just broke into Gringotts, you know, pretty much a normal day."

^ You would write it better, but something like that. :p
