I've skipped by that particular story at least a dozen times now because I was expecting to read a ridiculous amount of bashing and way too long teen tamper tantrums. And all that because of the story summary which frankly sounds just like most other badly written Harry/Tonks stories.

Yeah, there are temper tantrums and yes "Harry's utter immaturity and 'Dumbles'" are not much for my tastes but frankly I liked the story so far. It does have potential and some scenes in it were note worthy... other not. If not to become a master piece, the story could at least reach the level of a really good "guilty pleasure" fic the like of Summer of Change.

    EDIT:

wow funny thing is that the fics posted in the "for review" today don't get even close to the last few recommended in here... the thread title might just have to change to "quite good fics"

This is a pretty good story.

(“Solstice, Potter, it’s the winter solstice we’re celebrating, did you think we cared for Santa Bloody Claus? You’re such a Mudblood sometimes…”)

    Huh...clear win this one.

    Harry`s friendless statute is apealing.

I'll probably post that in For Review if the author does well with PoA, when length and continued updates are no longer a factor.

Agreed it's a good fic, but I'm not a big fan of the whole "chapter per year" thing. Leaves a lot of stuff I'd like to see offstage. <_< Dance of the Full Moon is pretty good as well.

Yeah, I skipped that as well a few times because of the ridiculous summary, but it's actually not half as bad as the summary makes out to be.

Mostly, I thought the confrontations with Dumbledore felt forced, as if the author really wanted to write them, regardless of whether or not there might have been a better way to go about in those scenes; but even so, they were written better than you standard Indy!Harry-rant. Deductions for "Dumbles" & co as well, but a big plus for Harry/Tonks. I really got a sudden craving, lol.

Remains to be seen what happens further, plotwise, but if it's at least somewhat original and/or interesting, it just might make it into the library. I'd say it's around ~3/5 now (including Harry/Tonks bonus :p)

On the Way to Greatness is very good. I think it's at 4/5 level right now. I don't mind abbreviated years condensed into single-chapter form. I think it saves everyone the hassle of reading what would likely be eighty percent retread.

I think waiting till Year 3 happens is a good idea. He seems to be aware of Sirius Black so I wonder what that will mean. Also like the partnership with Neville.

A story about the future of Harry, set in a slightly altered postDH universe. MAJOR sexual content, violence, and very adult themes. This is going to be a long one!

As it says, slightly altered post-DH; before epilogue, obviously. Tonks is alive, never had anything with Remus, Harry starts Auror training, and they become friends with benefits. Also, Tonks likes it rough :awesome

Too early to truly decide how good it is, but it looks not bad at all. I especially liked that it really focuses on Harry and Tonks; Ron, Hermione and Ginny are very much absent until now.

Edit: Eh, I was going to abuse the Automerge-thingy ... Bio got in the way ;)

AU. Chronicles of Riddick influenced. Left in the wake of the second coming of the Dark Lord, Harry Potter emerges from Azkaban and sets forth events that will change both the wizard and muggle world forever. Furyan!Harry/Narcissa. Rated M for Mature.

An Azkabant!Harry fic which albeit short holds much promise. If it wasn't for the fact that it's still less than 10k in length I'd have post it for a review. If I write a summary of what is written so far it'd definitely sound just like any other try in the 'gender' but the two chapters so far are written in quite promising way. Not to forget that it will eventually be a Harry/Narcissa fic and as long as the author keeps the good work and doesn't turn in into a harem story inevitably including Hermione in the equation, it will get a solid 4/5 going for 5/5

    EDIT:

This one ^^ might just become one of the few good Harry/Tonks stories. Hope the author will now get back to writing and see the story to the end.
Kingsley's offer to get Harry in the Aurors program along with his friends might just add them in the picture. Otherwise I did like it that it really focuses on Harry and Tonks as well.

A story that is borderline or even Library worthy, that has really caught my attention and has since be added to my story alerts list.

For those, who don't know who Rudyard Kipling is, he is the author of The Jungle Book. Which seems to have inspired the writing of this story.

    *edit*
Should mention that there are a couple of eyebrow raising, "WTF" moments in the story.

There are, but not just a couple, more like a lot of "WTF" moments. I had already formed my mind by the end of the second chapter at the point where Harry's parents explain in a quite interesting way, that simply fails the "proper teaching of a parent to his 10 year old kid", that given he faces his foe at some time he should kill him for the "greater good" and Harry on his part answers
"WTF" moment and then some more...

    Gotten farther in the story...

I now don't know if this is going to turn into a slash piece or not :(

    *edit*
If the last chapter is of any indication, it is not a slash fic...

Though I think that my opinion of the story has changed a bit, after reading the whole thing. Closer to readable than borderline Library worthy

Here's one I came across earlier today.

It's a MWPP fic but is actually a good read IMO.

Quiet possibly the best Slash fic in existence. (though that isn't really saying much)

I recently come across a one shot in Caer Azkaban Yahoo group. The story is "Call me in the morning by clell65619" . It's a post Voldemort 7th year story in which Harry is frequently seen with several witches. so an extremely jealous Draco attempts to find out the secret potion which made Harry irresistible to women, with hilarious results. It was amusing to read. While it's not library material, it's definitely a good way to pass some time.

Note: The story is couple of scenes short from being finished.

It is a very good fic. A Ruthless!Harry that is actually justifable considering his upbringing. I'm however slightly concerned with his unconditional love for 'Abba'. He appears to be brainwashed severly. I would post it in For Review if it wasn't a slash. 5/5

It's also posted on TFF at http://z14.invisionfree.com/The_Fanfiction_Forum/index.php?showtopic=14018.

Personally I can't stand Caer Azkaban, so this makes for a pleasant alternative.

It was also just posted on FFN I think he tends to post most of his short stories/vignettes under the "Big Box of Silliness"

I'd actually post it in the For Reveiw, because with the quality of stuff that's in there right now, it could probably make 4/5 or at least the Recycling Bin. For being all dialogue, it's definitely worth reading.
