In alot of fanon (don't know about canon), umbrige's so called "blood-quill", seems to be also used by Gringotts and the Ministry...However it's also sometimes Illegal.

My idea is this - if a blood-quill constitutes a legally binding contract, did Umbrige trick HP and the rest, into whatever it is they wrote?
    I.E. Harry can not lie.
What kind of crazy plot device could work out to be eh?

I don't know about "can not lie" but if she'd have made him write "always tell the truth and don't keep it to yourself", now that would make for a good one-shot of course for the humor section.

I think something like this was already done with the veritaserum challenge responses, wherein, Harry, or some character was permanently under the effects of veritaserum.

Yeah, I know of the veritaserum challenge - but the exact quote is "I must not tell lies". It doesn't mean he always tells the truth, just is compelled to do so.

It also affects others who had detention aswell.

Now that is a one-shot I'd read; are you up to writing it admonkey?

Rin, do you remember any details about the veritaserum challenge story, where it can be found, etc.?

This is it, unless I'm mistaken and there is another story just like it out there somewhere.

It's not a bad idea per se, but the characterization of Bellatrix kinda ruins in, unless you're into muggletolerating/not a sociopath!Bellatrix..

    vlad beat me to it.

I do like the idea of various magically binding contracts, signed in blood, though.

I don't remember Umbridge using the Blood Quill with anyone but Harry, but it has been a while since I read OotP. I believe Fred and George got the idea for their bruise cream from hearing about the essence of murtlap, but I think the idea of everyone in detention being forced to use the Blood Quill is strictly something invented for the OotP movie.

What Harry should've done in OotP was Imperius the bitch and force her to write "Insert Firenze's horse cock here" straight across her forehead, with an arrow pointing to her simpering, mustachioed mouth. You know the fat cow took it in the shitter when the centaurs carried her off into the forest...

That's got "wizard fetish porn" written all over it, huh?

There was a passing reference to Lee Jordan making some sort of smart remark, and ending up with a fucked-up hand too - Harry pointed him towards murtlap.

As for the rest of your post, Portus, however did you manage to become so edgy and hardcore?

I remember a story where something similar happened. Harry was supposed to deny Voldemort's return, but he couldn't have gone along with the MoM even if he wanted, because the Quill had forced him into a binding contract making it was impossible for him to lie. Rest of the story is rather fuzzy in my mind, might be on Fanfic Authors somewhere, but I'm not sure.

Idea is definitely interesting, at any rate.

Oh, that happened after some idiot convinced me that Luna Lovegood could teach me Occlumency. Or it's just a gift.

That's another idea I am toying with - Luna Lovegood, Snape, Potter - Occulmancy goes horribly wrong.

    The million galleon question:

If blood can be used to sign magical contracts, then in the blood the magic lies.

So, is there something to be said for said blood to be pure?

I'm starting to think that Admonkey's ideas aren't very original after all...

I don't think that the idea comes from purity, rather from blood running through everywhere in you're body, thus you symbolically [or not, according to fanon] put your whole body on the line, not only you're name.

Also, extracting blood is somewhat painful, thus serving as a reminder not to break the contract. Though I guess pulling out a bone would be more painful - though I really don't want to think of how you're going to write with it...

That isn't exactly what I had in mind... I do believe I had said "Horribly Wrong", not "fluffy teethrotting".

This isn't a bad idea. I'd find it quite amusing, if used in a humorous way.
