I don't know, Voldemort may have began to suspect that Harry is his accidental Horcrux and that, coupled with his magical ability, Harry's personality as a young Tom, their similar backgrounds and Voldemort's own desperate situation (he was living among animals for 5 years) could have forged a sort of a twisted friendship. After all, Voldemort showed some affection to Nagini, so he is capable of that, right? :-/

Voldemort talks about horcruxes in canon too ("And then I ask myself, but how could they have believed I would not rise again? They, who knew the steps I took, long ago, to guard myself against mortal death?").

From canon we know Voldemort (the pre-1981 one) to be charming and intelligent. He had a way with words and with people. He deems prophecy fulfilled and, thanks to Dursleys, sees Harry as possible recruit. He also knows that all of his followers either dropped him like a hot potato after he "died" or were sentenced to Azkaban so he will seek either those with nothing to lose or new recruits who haven't proven to be disloyal.

As for the story, I'll wait for more before rating it. It has potential to be either really good or royally fucked up, as the author is apparently a 14 year old grammar nazi slash fangirl.

Considering the scope of Voldemort's egomania the more like him Harry becomes the more likely Voldie wants to kiddie buttsecks Harry.

    This.

It would be a much more engaging and interesting story if Voldemort was trying to use Harry then dispose of him after regaining power. Or trying to dispose of him after. Who knows, this might happen in the future, but it doesn't look that way so far.

Also, I couldn't stand the abuse from the Dursley's. In canon. they were massive assholes that inflected godly amounts of mental anguish, but they never beat him. Ever. The closest thing would have been Dudley and his gang laying into him or when Petunia swung a frying pan at his head but missed.

I can't stand that shit. His life was terrible enough without getting walloped all the time. It's just an easy way to make his shitty life seem even more shitty.

Look at it this way. They aren't a problem anymore. 3 chapters and they are out of the picture for the rest of the fic. I only only assume that the author wanted Harry to not feel so bad about killing his family.

And as for friendship between Harry and Voldemort, I actually want to see this aspect of the fic. There are plenty of fics where Voldemort pretends to be a friend or tries to control Harry for his own benefits. Who cares is it isnt probable for Voldemort to befriend Harry. But really, if he thinks Harry is almost the same as him, which he apparently is considering he even thought his name was Tom Riddle, he wont mind befriending Harry.

Harry being too old for 5 year old is not that hard to believe. He might as well as be a 12 year old in a 5 year old body.

Pros and cons balance each other out, but the story is engaging and written well enough. One of the better takes on the Mind Dump concept, but Nice!Voldemort and Dursley abuse got on my nerves a bit.

    4/5 for now.

If he thinks Harry is the same as him, he'd see him as a threat and off him. Hell, I'd say that if in CoS diary!Riddle managed to escape to Voldemort, Voldemort would have seen his own horcrux as a threat and tried to off him too.

The grammar and quality of writing in this fic is quite good. However... the Voldemort/HP "friendship" (most likely soon to be slash) is simply too much for me to swallow.

Granted, this is somewhat hypocritical, since there are a few HP/Bella fics I like and I'm constantly searching for a decent Naruto/FemKyuubi fic, but I simply can't get over the presecne of a "friendly" Voldemort in a serious-fic. Whereas Bellatrix at least participates in a marriage, and Kyuubi is a fiery ball of eternal hatred that can be fanonized into an anthromorphic sexpot, Voldemort has seven books establishing that he is evil only for his own name and views no one as his peer.

    2/5 due to inevitable slash.

I have to say that this is one of the best stories I've ever read with Harry developing his powers pre-Hogwarts. I admit that I was somewhat reluctant to read this at first, given the author's admission to a preference for Slash. I was, however, quite pleasantly surprised and now find myself absolutely fascinated with the story.

Other than 2 grammar/typo "issues", I don't think there were any, and if I missed them they were unobtrusive enough that I didn't even notice them and definitely not enough to impede the fluidity of the story.

Also, given that the author said there would be no Slash, I find myself having high hopes for this one. Definitely worth a read!

    EDIT:
The author has stated that this won't be a slash story, so hopefully it will stay that way...

Most of them are. Although, to be honest, virtually every story I've seen that is Naruto/FemKyuubi is complete fail. I think Naruto Genkyouien pulls off the best comedy Kyuubi, since Kyuubi has the mentality of a three year old and was simply chasing her tails, while David Knight's Diverging Paths pulls off the best mysterious/malicious Kyuubi, where she's free to a degree from Naruto, but she's relaxing and taking her time in fucking over Konoha and Naruto. Too bad the story is abandoned and over half of it is about Sasuke running around with some OC chick I couldn't give a fuck about.

So, I read it and found it to definitely be one of the best fics I've ever read that feature a Voldemort-in-Harry's-head. (It should be noted that I haven't read very many.)

Regarding Harry's intelligence, while it is unrealistic that a 5 year old would have that level of intelligence or be that blasé about killing someone, it's something that I can both easily overlook and that I think the fic would suffer from not having. I mean no-one wants to read a story where Harry actually has the intelligence and maturity of a 5 year old.

4/5 because the quality largely depends on how good the plot is from here on out.

Pretty damn good writing for a 14 year old in fact briliant writing fullstop.
I'm actually mildly scared by the whole abuse part either this is some scarily good young writer or if she is actually 14 some strange outlet for some past experiences.
Regardless of the author I would give 3/5 for style and prose but only 2/5 for the actual content, Voldemort was too personable for my mind.
