    Website is here.

    Edit:here is a gameplay video.
    .
Downloaded the demo for Xbox yesterday and its quite good can have some amazing dogfights in assistance off mode. Really detailed models for the planes but tanks and boats are lacking(although maybes its hard to get a good view when I cant exactly land beside it and take a picture).

The demo has up to 4 player co-op. Normal difficulty only, which is ridiculously easy. You destroy any target with 2 missiles, locking on is fairly simple, if you get hit it only means about -13 health (out of a starting 100) on your plane. Also you have 6 flares which get rid of any locked on missiles(as long as you don't use them way to early).

I'd like to see this on hardest difficulty co-op with no option for assistance on or Ers flight path(the help thing when you hit X)

Anybody else play it? What did you think?

    H.A.W.X

Okay, so I'm an air force nerd. I pretty much adore most anything to do with modern aviation. However I haven't found many high quality flight combat games out there that don't amount to simulators with a small added combat component. At least, not many modern versions designed for PC.

I've seen the H.A.W.X commercials, and am now pretty intrigued. Can anyone report back and say if it's worth the money or not?

    Merged threads.

I played the demo. I dunno, I didn't like it that much. They don't have a demo for the PC?

Don't know how I missed the original thread, my bad >_>.

I haven't checked for a demo yet, I suffered a HDD failure the other day, and am currently on my secondary, with basically 300 MB free. Gotta replace that before I can download even so much as a demo :p.

Besides that, I've only got a old joystick, granted it's a high quality one that i pissed away more money on than I should have, but it's still from 2001 or so. I don't believe it's compatible with my system at the moment, and the only way to play a good flight game is with a joystick. Point being-Don't wanna drop $50 on a joystick to play a demo that ends up being bad :p.

I played the demo and debated whether to buy it but after reading the review I decided against it. You never really get a sense of speed and it's not really the type of game I like, I was just attracted to the novelty.

It's an alright game, but I dunno... Ace Combat made me feel a lot more epic when I played it.

I got it for the X360, rather disappointed really.

No sense of speed, unrealistic, arcadey, all planes feel the same, dog fights don't really feel like dog fights... shrug

I recently received H.A.W.X from a friend of mine for the PC. Can't say I'm impressed. Only one level in, but the controls are rather shaky. I was also give a high quality joystick to play with, and while I may just need to tune it to the game, it's incredibly frustrating sometimes. Target lock makes it easy to shoot down, and name me ONE fighter that can hold 300+ air to air missiles.

I'm a stickler for realism, and while I know it wouldn't be a fun game if you had to roll out with only 14 missiles and 200 rounds of ammo, I can't say I like the huge amount approach any better.

Also, anyone foolish enough to try to play the game with a mouse should just kill themselves. It's really that bad.

The missions get a lot harder. I remember getting blown up at least 10 times trying to escort the US Fleet out of Tokyo Bay. There were twelve ships left, all with SAM's, AA guns and enough missiles that I could only get a split-second chance to shoot before getting the hell out.

The difficulty does increase, especially when you start flying against planes who are so good you need to use the Left-CTRL and turn off the safety parametres.

I have it on PC. I'll admit that it isn't epic but I found it fun to play. I'm only using my keyboard as well. Then again, I've been really engaged in fighter and space sims recently so it could be that.

I played it on my PC with my 360 controller. It was alright, though the levels seemed to be designed by a man with a lever that only had two settings; "Mind-numbingly tedious" and "Controller-smashingly frustrating."

Dear god that level with the EMP fields you have to shut down was a pain.

All in all it was fairly underwhelming. The novelty of rocketing new giant steel penises through the air wears off quickly once you realise that the gameplay doesn't hold up. I agree with Oz, get Ace Combat instead.

Actually it probably should win an award for worst story in a game in recent memory. The unintentionally hilarious dialogue your idiot wingmen would spout was one of the game's few saving graces. Until they've repeated it 20000 times that is.
