Do it with early-series KC: if you can manage to have Udon beat him with algebra, I'll give you a cookie.

I don't think that daimyos actually give money to Hidden Villages, rather they are just the biggest employers of ninja. Border patrols, guards, bodyguards, spies, counter-spies, messengers... I would say that daimyos employ majority of ninja.

Have him 'Oiroke no jutsu' into Umbridge and i'll give a cookie of my own.

Speaking of HP/Naruto crossovers, does anyone know of a decent one besides Over the Hills and Far Away?

It's quite categorically stated in the manga that Suna has it's budget cut by its daimyo. Naruto wiki says that this leads to mission being rerouted to Konoha. This in fact to me suggests that Random Shinobi's idea is probably the correct one the daimyo are the primary employers (at least in Wind).

However it's important to note that not all countries operate in a similar fashion. As someone said Pein was the god-ruler-kage of Rain and Hanzo before him, this could be taken as evidence to suggest that it varies on a national basis.

a link to another forum's thread here

<cut and paste of the relevant parts>
    6. Naruto's new skills and the result of the training will reveal when he fight against Pain.
He have learned all of the Jiraiya's jutsu during the 3 years of the time and he became
much stronger. He did not learn the "toad mode or w.e u call it". Naruto also learned
    3 of the 4th's jutsus.
    <end>
This isnt the exact interview, the guy who posted it says he lost the link.

I was just happy to see some old school Naruto beat down. I just hope when he finally finds Pein, he isnt all like, "BELIEVE IT!"

To which Pein responds, "Yeah yeah, you were right." Then dies.

If Naruto knows every technique Jiraiya knows, then he's more mentally-incapable than I've ever thought.

    Epic clone spam is epic.

Anyway I'm skeptical of the source of that second interview, he got up on stage at the 2008 Jump Festa and answered some questions and then if you trolled various Naruto forums he supposedly answered more questions at a different time. None of the forums I saw that second part linked on gave a source and they all used the exact same (literally word-for-word same bits in bold and italics) bad translation which makes me even more doubtful as to its authenticity.

I really don't believe Jiraiya taught Naruto his entire repertoire of jutsu in his time away for two reasons: first, there wasn't enough time to learn all the techniques that Jiraiya has accumulated over a lifetime of being a ninja and secondly, there has been no hint in any of the fights since timeskip of new techniques which originated with Jiraiya. Frankly I think that second set of questions and responses was faked to get people's hopes of a more badass Naruto up.

Its not about quantity. Remember the 4th and his 'everyone-grabs-a-kunai' jutsu?

If the daimon has some guards with kage-like skill/strength then killing him would be pretty damn hard.

The way I see it, the hidden villages ninja force is mostly made of genins, the usual fuckers you send to get slaughtered, some chunin, and pretty few jounins.

Dont forget about that scene where orochimaru was training sasuke, and there were several corpses dead at their feet. A good ninja> any amount of losers...at least on naruto-verse.

Edit: About Naruto learning all of Jiraya's jutsus, it could be reasoned that the author decided to 'grab' a few fanfictions ideas and have Naruto faking still beeing stupid and weak after his travel with Jiraya? After all, dont all 'true ninja' hide their awsomeness?

I think anything after the Naruto vs. Pain battle was going to be lacklustre, even with the lows this arc has probably been the highlight for me in Naruto manga so far. It had to cool down some time.

I suppose, but reading it I couldn't help but feel like "what, 17 pages already.. did I miss a few?".

Though I must admit, I am looking forward to the next chapter an awful lot... I suppose that was the intent really.

I think the main point of this chapter was to highlight everyone's reactions - not really to advance the plot. Who was the third member of Skikaku and Inoichi's team?

    That would be Chouza.

EDIT: Oh, wait. You were talking about the group in the current chapter. For some reason I thought you were talking about their actual team from before for some bizarre reason. Whoops.

    New manga chapter is up...
    kinda.. meh.
they talked, as expected, but the angst-ing is uninspired. Pain didn't even get to describe his past properly.

I found the fact that neither side had declared victory or admitted defeat, but both Nagato and Naruto wanted to talk to be somewhat refreshing.

Nagato's parents' deaths weren't particularly epic, but the scene worked and explains Nagato's hatred of war.

Can't wait for Hanzou next chapter.
