I've moved house in the last couple of weeks and have connected to my brothers wireless internet. Now my Utorrent is crapping up.

I think this has to do with the router... I don't really understand it, but can someone give me a hand on fixing this up?

    I have a DSL-G604T Wireless ADSL router.

    Help help help?

    Hey Anya.

I have the same router so follow these instructions.

    1. Open utorrent and set your listening port to a number. I shall call it
    50000
    2. Open a browser and type in '10.1.1.1'. You may need a user name and password. Try 'admin' and 'admin' first. If that doesnt work, ask your brother.
    3. Click on the Advanced Tab
    4. On the right, click on Virtual Server
    5. Find the LAN IP your PC is using (right click on network and click status?) and select it
    6. Choose "User" as the category
    7. Click on "ADD" on the bottom of Available Rules
    8. Call the rule "Utorrent" or whatever. Select Protocol as TCP,UDP. Put in 50000 for all the rest, port start, port end, port map. Click apply
    9. Select Utorrent from the list. Click on the add between the two boxes
    10. If you can, reset your modem to save the changes. Mine doesnt work, so I have to do this every time I wanna use Vuze. It's not that hard once you get used to it.

There you are. You just forwarded a port for Utorrent. Let me know if it works :p

    You are God. <3

Edit: Yeah, working now. Thank you!

Edit: Wait.. I think I did something wrong. I did all you said, then turned the modem off and on?

    Right move?

    Looooooooool.

No, not a power reset, a system reset. It's under Tools somewhere. I'm at uni so I dunno exactly where. Just ignore that part and just apply the rule every time you want to torrent something.

EDIT: 0. I have my Utorrent Listening Port set as 12345
    1. Go to 10.1.1.1 and log in.
    2. Advanced > Virtual Server
    3. Select the User option
    4. Press Add
    5. Rule Management; Rule name: Utorrent > Protocol: TCP,UDP > Port Start: 12345 > Port Map: 12345 > Port End: 12345 > Port Map End: [Leave Empty?]
    6. Go back to Virtual Server > User > Select the Utorrent option and Add it to the Applied Rules box.
    7. Press Apply
    8. Tools > System > Save Settings To Local Hard Drive; Save.

But then it still isn't working... what am I doing wrong?

... Man, I suck at this sort of shit.

Try this. Check if you've done everything right.

Dunno if that's necessary. Your modem should reboot automatically once you save/apply changes.

... or you could just ditch uTorrent and enjoy better speeds with direct download links (eg. rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, netload, filefactory)

Most of those rate-limit you. Can't pull 2-5mb/s from Rapidshare.

What do you mean rate limit, when downloading from Rapidshare I never get below 300Kb/s (On a 3mbit connection)

Ok, FUCKING LOL at your sig Skykes.

Also, I've never gotten good speeds on rapidshare, but then again, I also don't have a premium account, so thats probably why.

Anya lives in Australia. Unless her brother wants to shell out $100+, she's not going to reach 2-5mb's regardless

Is that because of the distance from Rapidshare servers or because of contention ratio?

Broadband is perfect for me because I live in a shitty poor area, nobody else has it ;)
