Well, the story of the archangels who were cast down involves mating with humans, producing gigantic beings that rampaged and killed people with terrifying strength. IIRC, these in the end have to be struck down, and is a part of the reason that the angels rebel, along with being less preferred than humans (never understood this, as they are basically omnipotent and omniscient, who gives a fuck about humans?), and Lucifer believing himself equal to god and leading said rebellion. I'm really shaky on it, but perhaps the issue with Meciel's "grandchildren" has to do with the execution of the "abominations" resulting from the pairing of humans and angels.

 

Here's a slightly off-topic question: What did Meciel mean when she told Dumbledore his ancestors would be proud of him?

Was she just being polite, or does she know something about his heritage that I've missed?

As far as I understood the backstory, the angels that became the fallen were in love and had families.
God ordered the angels to kill the hybrids, which they refused. He banned them into the void.

One thing I don't understand: Why did Meciel relinquish control over
Amanda's body? I mean, she should've at least taken control back once
the group got into the nevernever, lest Amanda casts a spell when she gets
surprised by an enemy.

That's just the Gregori Angels who weren't a part of Lucifer's gang. Lucifer rebelled first I think, and when those Angels were ordered to watch over humanity, the rest decided "fuck it" and starting spawning Nephilim (the abominations), which then led to their fall. Or at least that how I think it went.

Not that knowledgable on Jewish scripture, which is were we get most of our non-fictional knowledge about Angels.

I've just now gotten to read all of DL. Spent most of the day catching up. The personalities of each character is so unique and strong that it truly is the core of the story. You really start to care about these characters. Amaris in particular has become a favorite of mine. Especially because of the dynamics between her and Harry. Their interactions keep me wondering if she'll grasp what it means to be human, and in the end what choice will she make. Will she choose to be mortal or wholly fae. Which I guess was Fawkes' plan all along. The phoenix presented Harry the oppurtunity to know his daughter, and for Amaris to know something other than Winter. But like a Summer fae the ulterior motive is Winter is short a potential Faerie queen.

This new storyline is great since its Harry without Meciel for the first time. I don't know if there will be a change in Harry's character as a consequence, but I'm hoping there's an after effect to the torture besides a lot of angst. Since he's Maeve's prisoner, here's hoping we get a glimpse of Mab at some point.

I like how torture affects Harry. While he remains unbroken - he most certainly is affected and he'd probably fare far worse if he didn't have all those nifty mental tricks Meciel taught him.

I guess what I'm saying is that I like that Harry is still somewhat human and flawed instead of absolutely over-the-top indestructible.

Similarly to others I expect for epic ass-kicking to commence soon.

Love this story. Simply one of the most entertaining badass!Harrys out there. The interactions with Dumbledore are always a treat, and I really enjoy the Knights of the Cross involvement (though I find Amanda fairly annoying... or at least I did until she picked up Meciel's coin. ++)

Last couple chapters have been a really interesting development, I'm looking forward to Meciel's rampage and an epic prison breakout. The fallout from Amanda's possession is bound to be great as well. In the meantime, Harry's characterization without Meciel around to back him up is spot-on. He's still his old badass self, but is also being shown as a lot weaker; Meciel is not redundant, their partnership is still a big part of why Harry is successful.

Like I said on IRC, Amanda is pretty old to be calling her father 'daddy'.

I lol'd when Amanda gushed at the incredible spell work Dumbledore did, and that Meciel was quick to point out that Harry can do it too.

I think I also cheered a little inside when he got the coin back, not out loud there are people around. I don't want people to think me crazy, lol. And I had to stop myself for actually doing it when he kissed her. Harry/Amanda alll the way.

Over all a great chapter!

Uh, one question. Why is Amanda the Knight now? Isnt Merciel still the Knight of the Cross?

So Amanda's a Knight now, and Harry seems to be in a rewarding mood. While I'm never liked Amanda in the trilogy, I will admit you protrayed her well and gave her a decent character and power growth. Still not sure about the Sword though. Hope to see more soon.

 

Once again I am utterly confused. When did Amanda find out Amaris was Harry's daughter? I would have remembered the anger and hurt she felt over finding the guy she has a crush on has a friggin daughter. So did I miss a chapter or what? I remember he told nearly everyone including Amanda that Amaris was his cousin or something.

 

Dumbledore explained to the Order of Pheonix that Harry could not strike against his own daughter when he was captured.Amanda must have heard him, but we didnt read about her reaction.

 

It's awesome to see an update. I already can't wait for next one.

I hope you won't have Dumbledore die here, though, reading The Lie I've Lived is still too fresh on my mind.

I thought that Meciel was the Knight, not Amanda. Will Amanda be the Knight now? If so, will we see more of her in the story? Storyline demands it, along with some readers, but I have trouble believing that Michael and Charity would let her anywhere near Harry anymore. After all, if it wasn't for him, she wouldn't accept the coin of a Fallen angel. Counterarguments that she'd be a dead body if not for him won't work against overprotective parents, and Charity is exactly that. I don't think that Michael would ignore her picking a coin too. Anything else - maybe, but not this.

I hope there will be a lot of graphic revenge in the next chapter, and please, please, don't make him forgive Amaris.

One question: are Maeve and Amaris fucking retarded? Not only they left the coin to be found but also Harry's wand. Not smart. Not smart at all.
