Or are they so geeky they somehow become cool?

You do have to wonder what the hell her grandkids will think, when they ask Grandma to explain why the fuck she has guys in funky gold masks on her elbows.

Most bizarre has to be bottom left, Hello Kitty emo-man. Does he think this will allow him to blend in with the teenage Japanese girls?

The bird with the triforce on her lower back is awesome and it looks good. Can't understand why people would have a game of pacman tattoed on the side of their face though.

All I can think about is how awful the tattoos will look as these people age. For that reason alone (my irrational fear of needles aside) I could never get a tattoo.

It's ok if it's relatively small I suppose, but its beyond me why people feel the need to cover their whole arm in tattoos - never mind those people that chose to place them on their faces.

Oh well, their choice, their problem. I will just laugh.

I have a Chaos Star (ala Warhammer 40K) on my right inner wrist. Due to my lousy hand control with a camera, no pic at the moment.

And yes I have and do still play 40k.

I'm actually probably gonna get this:

If I do, DLP will get pics immediately, of course. </been thinkin' bout it for a while> Though it'd be a yellow, not red bar on the Irish flag, and probably a California flag instead of a US flag.

Okay, mad props for that. Though the eight-pointed star representing chaos has been a staple of fantasy since the sixties, so those seeing it won't automatically think GW. Not necessarily a bad thing.

See I hate when people say "you'll hate it when you're older! It won't mean as much to you and you'll regret it!"

Not true, even if my tattoo or any others I get maybe don't mean as much, when you get a tat it kind of symbolises who you are at that time, its more than just being stuck with an image on you're body, but I suppose thats hard to understand if you ain't got one.

To add to the discussion of importance and reasons I'll share my own wish for a tattoo.

Its real simple. Right now I'm in debt for a bit...new car, student loans. Will work two jobs until they are all paid off and then I'll keep working until I have a couple grand in the bank. Should be done in a few years.

After this is said and done I will reward myself with a tattoo.

I'm a Zelda freak, but did not want the triforce or the phoenix, both I think are awesome. Instead, I had a better idea. One that represents me a bit more than just the Zelda obsession.

In a Zelda fanfiction there was a tattoo that Link got. It was of forest vines that started on his back and grew around to his chest where they fanned out. The image I got was awesome and it stayed in my mind for years.

When I toyed with getting a tattoo that is one that sprang to mind and the one I'll be getting. It represents my love for the Zelda games by the vines representing Link from him coming from Kokiri Forest. It also represents my efforts into writing and reading fanfiction. And finally, it means that when things get rough for me I know I can buckle down, work, and get what I want done.

Yeah....not exactly geeky image of a tattoo, but what it means is extremely so. Fanfic and Zelda. hehe.

Old people look nasty anyway, so that's not really that big of a deal.

I remember this one from way back in the day. Simple, but classic... and it let's people know you'll be doing four times the damage.

That is like... the worst tattoo(well, pen) job they possibly could've done. It's not even round.

Well, considering it was Quake III that introduced curved surfaces, maybe it's appropriate ;)

    Awesome. So awesome.

Probably gonna need to be quite big if you want that kind of shading/detail.

    This the flag you mean?

Forgive my ignorance, but why the yellow bar?

Pfft. Once you get to the point where you forget they're even there - I still sometimes get surprised when I see some of mine in the mirror - you can't regret them.

Seriously though, best way to not regret a tattoo is to actually think about it for longer than five minutes. The only people I know who regret their tattoos got them on impulse - or the artist fucked up (or, in one particularly interesting case, died before the second session).

Besides, when I get old, my muscles waste away, my hair falls out, I want to suck boiled sweets, wear slippers and cardigans all the time, my dick stops working without the aid of little blue pills and the most exciting thing in my life is my morning cup of tea in front of the TV my then-faded tattoos will be my least concern - and probably my favourite stories to tell again and again and again.

-On Topic- Tattoo in question looks plenty awesome.

Well to be fair it looks like they would have been drawing it upside down on a very soft bit of the body.

    WTF?

There's not a single one of the tattoos that the OP linked that I found even remotely attractive or creative. It's not even that they're nerdy, per se; putting video game cartoons on your body is dumb. Putting a Star Wars mural on your arm is extremely dumb. The tri-force on the chick might've been less gay if it were smaller, but it's still extremely gay.

The fact that they put thought into it (as opposed to being a by-product of a night of heavy drinking) adds more to their failure.

I thought about that at one point but decided I'd rather have some more lager than get one.

Bingo. She may be holding the Quake II box, but that's a Quake I quad damage tattoo.

In that game the quad was quite angular... in fact, back then, everything was. :)
