LONDON (AFP) – Actor Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has contracted swine flu, his publicist said Saturday, three days before the latest Potter blockbuster premieres in London.
Grint took several days off filming the next movie in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", but is still expected to join co-stars on the red carpet for the launch of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Tuesday.


"It has just been confirmed that Rupert Grint has taken a few days out of filming due to a mild bout of swine flu," his publicist said in a statement.
"He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members at the junket and premieres this week and will then return to filming directly afterwards."
She added that filming was not disrupted by the 20-year-old's absence.


"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" opens in most of Europe on July 15 and in the United States and Japan two days later.
Four people have died in Britain of swine flu, the A(H1N1) virus, and the country has Europe's highest number of reported cases with nearly 7,500.
The government warned this week that figure could rise to over 100,000 new cases a day by the end of August.

After reading about the ice cream van I'm rooting for swine flu.

 

I just hope he manages to give it to old man Dumbledore before he's completely cured. Because he's old enough to actually die, for a second time.

 

Yeah, they've stopped even attempting to contain swine flu now: the government has pretty much said "everyone's going to get it, oh well". Which should be fine for most of us.

But a nation with 60million people with swine flu might mean the rest of the world gets it a bit faster too. I wonder how many it'll kill if it goes pandemic in Africa.

 

And if we pray hard, they'll use this as an excuse to nix the R/Hr kissing scenes (and the entire R/Hr ship, switching to H/Hr... I'm praying harder than I ever have before...).

Unlike most of you guys, I seem to be one of the only people that doesn't want the cast of the HP films to die. :/

They never did anything wrong, err, well, not that I care about anyway.

 

You can bro' it up with Grint all you want, while I'll "suffer" with Watson...

I'm convinced Radcliffe is gay, so no argument there.

1. Orrrr, they'll just wait till he's better, instead of changing the script >_> They had no problem pushing the release of HBP back half a year, so a few weeks is chump change by comparison.
2. LOL @ the Japanese. Yet another reason why they're so fuckin' useless.
